Idling problems with '94 camaro???!!! Much help needed!
SO out of no where prertty much my camaro starts over heating...liek redlineing 260,we figure out theres no anti freeze at all cause a tube came loose and it leaked,so we fixed that, then like the thermostate was never openeing for the anti freeze to pass through the block,so the car was still running hott as ****,put a new thermostat on and it its better now,but it sometimes just redlines at 260 degrees, then when its idling,it wants to stall really bad,the RPMS are jumping and the engine surges sometimes,i too the air filter off and it was sucking for air drastically, but not constantly....all of this happened basically out of no where, i didnt adjust/crash into/or change anything and all this happened....it seems to me the jetting is ****ed up,but i have no idea, could something have happened while we were trying to fix it when it was 260 degrees idling? Please help!!!!

The diagnostic system is fucked up,when i put the key in the A&B connector nothign happens at all...the engine light doesnt blink at all and the fans just turn on,occasionally the engine light nonstop blinks but it never ever gives me a code, its fucked up....some people suggest it mgiht be the IAC,the 02 sensor,or bad spark plugs....i dunnoo....could anyone tell em where the IAC is on the 94 LT1.....Thanks,much help needed

It's just below the throttle body, see here: http://shbox.com/1/throttle_body2.jpg
There is nothing to adjust on the IAC itself, it's controlled by the PCM. If it's bad you can replace it, but otherwise if you're having a problem with the idle and the IAC is at fault you probably need a tune to fix that.

i just took it out,it started right up then stalled, then i tried it agian and started right up...so i took it for a spin and it was pretty much runing normal so it seemed, there were no surging and the engine wasnt bogging or trying to stall...so i drop my friend off,put the car in reverse, and it surgse liek hell and starts trying to accelerate to like 15mph lol,so i just said i gotta go and almost ran my friend over, then it was running liek complete DICK,so i just throttled it and it was alright,i drive about 1/4th mile and turn right down my street and it staleld in the middle of the turn, power steering jsut goes out haha, not much different without power steering in my car though, very very tight race like suspension,so i start it up and give it lots of gas and just drive down my street and pull it in the garage,i sit there and wait to see if its surging or trying to stall, and nothing...very weird experiance on that test drive...

sounds like the opti to me. it takes a few minutes for it to start heat up. once it does it will run like ****. is the car still over heating? if so id say the water pump is probably shot. which 9 times out of 10 means the opti took a **** also.

What is the opti?,and no the car is not over heating anymore, but it takes a while to heat up,it seems liek it wants to stall only when im idling...although it does sometimes stall when i give it gas, after its been idling a bit, but it most of the time it surges and stalls while idleing....i think it runs a little better when it gest warmed up,but it did stall in the middle of the road when the temp normal....

Oh haha my bad, when you said "I took it out" I thought you meant that part, not the car.
Anyway, I don't think it's the opti if the problem only shows up at idle, usually if the opti is bad it will run worse at higher rpms.

Another thing i noticed is that, whenever it about to stall and i give it gas, like a cloud of black smoke will come iout my exhaust....only when its gonna stall though then it like bogs and surges, then a cloud of black will often come out my exhaust....

i know this is going to sound funny mine was doing that exept for it would actylly die if i let it ile to long becouse it was loading up on fuel come to find out with the lt1 one of the coolant senser sends reading to the computer for the gauge the other sends to to the computer for fuel i can not remaber wich one was witch but both are under 20.00 so i went ahead and changed both problem was solved and one other thing about jumpin with a jim clip sounds like you got a late 94 becouse even tho you got the old style concter it still have to have a dignostic computer to get any codes if it was me i would try repl the coolant sensors in is in the side of the head the other is in the water pump and if no luck i would take it to the shop and have it put on the computer

yeah if i do let it idle long enough,or it might not even take long,it usualyl dies as soon as i start it,then i gotta help it stay alive, then it will take long and die out, also there is a lot of carbon build up on my exhaust tips, and i get exhaust stains on my bumper constantly, the car is obviously running very rich....if that makes a difference....

yeah that is exactly how they do i have also seen the same problem on 2 93 trans am and 1 other 94 z28 that i have worked on and fixed by changing the 2 sensors i just picked mine up at the local advance auto parts if that fixes your problem you might wanna put some new plugs in to let me know what you find
