Sweet, I am thinking about trying to be one of the first guys if not the first to spray a multi-stage 500 shot. Still trying to figure out if I could build an LT1 to handle that. At least the block and all. I know there are bottom ends that will handle it.
I know a lot of tracks would not handle it but at long as I knew it could handle it I would be happy and keep in in the 400 range most of the time or something.
6XXrwhp then a 500DP+1,000-1,100ish to the wheels.

if ya can run 8.0s w/ an LT1 block then I am sure you could get a 4 bolt block to hold

OutlawZ-
If your using the opti or an opti replacement, the FAST XFI should be able to use the opti's outputs for CAM and CRANK position data... Just plug and play from what the guys at FAST told me via email.
If your doing a std distributor like Tony S, you would have to do something like the Accel Dual sync (or similar by others) or at least a distributor with a cam position sensor built in... Either way, along with a crank trigger.
With BS3 you can get a GM cam postion sensor and crank trigger, then run full sequential with LSx coils. The GM part resides in the same place as a distributor but is only a plug/oil pump drive with a CPS...
Lots of ways to do it, just depends on the fundage

I am kinda worried about that much juice on the LT1 also. I thought about a SB2.2 based motor with an after market race block on fuel injection but it would not be an LT1 but it WOULD handle A LOT of power.
To bad there is no aftermarket LT1 block out there
Yeah it would be cool to have that on an LT1 but its not worth trashing engines..... $$$$$$$$$$$$

I will drive mine to the track, race, and drive it home if you wish. I drive it weekly to the local gatherings, sometimes to work, and on weekends. It is by far not my daily driver, but it does see the street quite often.

But the line between street car and racecar is 150ft wide
Maybe in a couple years from now I'll go solid roller, race fuel, and an F3R so I can run with you 8 second boys
Just gotta get at least a year or two of enjoyment outta the current setup before I can consider changing the setup again.
Good luck to you boys goin for the 8's! Im rootin for you! Kick some LS1 ***

I have been running a 421 Dart SBC and it has been great. Went 8.30's with the damn thing. No problems and very reliable. lots of fun. Regular SBC is cool and is really very very similar to the LT1 then you might think. BTW my 421 is for sale. If you are interested drop me a line. Vince

believe me our little blocks can take alot of power, look at rick intrau's ride. i am not even close to the power level he is making, i have no worries with the block (quickly touching wood... lol)

Sorry I didn't even know that there were this many replies to this post..... I'm setting up my car to run 9's NA and 8's on spray and be "streetable" meaning I can drive it 10-20 miles to a car show or out for a sunday drive... i'm not intending to drive it to the track down the highway though......
I think the block will take plenty of power.... I need to make about 850RWHP to run 8.99 in a 3250lb car.....
