Steve Quinn was running 10.6s with his heads/cam/Speedpro(I think),LT1 Camaro. I believe he was twisting the stock rotating assembly to something like 7,500 rpm.

Steve's car is impressive, but it is very light (gutted).

Chris Bennight and Darren Nichols are the fastest NA LT1 stock shortblock street cars that I know of...Chris went 11.3@120 and Darren went 11.2@121.

I think it's Steve Quinn too (quasar blue Z) but I think the car is 3000 raceweight.

I know Chris Bennight ran a 11.38@121.06, 1.47 sixty foot. His car weighs in the neighborhood of 3500 lbs.

What heads and cam did Steven have? Just curious

Yes Steve Quinns car is sub-3200lbs I beleive, but don't quote me on it. If it is, its not by much though.

He was running 10.58 with the stock short block and hogged out set of LT1 castings.

This year he has a 37xci LT1 and is running 10.04, but I am not sure of the mph.

Any way you slice it, pretty damn respectable for a car that doesn't use a trans brake and shifts north of 7500rpm <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Just another testament as to what GTP heads and a 306 cam can do regarding Chris B's car. Chris Marsh was another stock bottom end/GTP/306 cam that was in the low 11's. There are more, but the names have escaped me.

Yes, this is a guy that managed to make a bolton Impala go 12.3 though so a LOT more skilled than most.

LT1 owners back then did not have to hack the **** out of their cars to run a number since most of the time they were still daily drivers or legitimately street legal.

It's funny how LT1s got slower over the years .

GTP heads are badass, Craig is a wizard with a grinder.

Quoted for posterity.
It should also be noted this was being done on factory castings since about the only option at that time was AFR, but out of the box AFR sucked and no one wanted to pay for the heads and then pay again for them to get ported. This is what kills me when know nothings get on here and say how shitty the CC306 is.
