Default Once again, opti recommendations please

I realize this has been brought up numerous times, but I'm strapped for time and don't have time to do a search. I need recommendations for an opti, the one in my '94 Z28 went out. Is the '94 one non-vented? Can it be replaced with a newer, vented one? I remember reading that some were more recommended than others and some that were to be avoided. Any information is greatly appreciated.

The 95+ is vented. In order to swap to that you need a 95+ wiring harness and a 95+ opti vaccm harness. Im doing the swapin december along with the my cam swap. Keep in mind that its not cheap!!

I have a 94 Z28 and went with the MSD opti. it's a bolt with vacum hose's. To switch to the 95 the timing gear is different, the cover is different, cam dowel, easier to to buy the distributer then find all the other peices.
I did have problems with the first MSD but they sent me another one. No problems with this one.

I bought the complete distributer. MSD did stand behind it and sent me a new one. I had to send them the first one it took about a two week turn around. I got the opti for $460. I heard some bad stuff about the opti's from carquest and autozone. I would go with an aftermarket one or original GM.

Thanks everybody, looks like I'm going with a GM unit; for a little bit extra I've got a lifetime warranty on it. Hope to have the car back tomorrow along with a K&N CAI in place of the home-made hack system I had.
