Ate An LS1 Camaro Tonight!
Ok well I was out taking a little cruise on the local highway today in my '95 Camaro Z28 A4 when a guy I know decided to pull up next to me in his '99 Camaro Z28 M6 with a SLP lid and a Flowmaster cat-back. At first I thought he was just going to cruise with me or something, but then I heard his rpm's shoot up when he drop it into 2nd gear (we were going atleast 45mph). Once I heard his rpm's shoot up, I shifted into 2nd gear just incase he tried to pull from me. I guess he heard me downshift so he got on it, so I figured I would try and keep up with him but then I just started pulling from him all of a sudden. I wasn't pulling hard but it was good enough to where it made me think he wasn't getting on it all the way. All my car has is 3.73 gears, a Dynomax muffler and a dyno tune and I didn't think I would be able to keep up with a '99 Z28 M6 on the highway. Later on we met up at a local gas station and he told me my car was fast and he didn't think I had a chance. I had thoughts of getting rid of my car before that and getting an LS1, but my plans have changed thanks to that!

Good, and it's good he didn't bash you either A tune helps a bunch, and I'm sure there's still plenty of tune left in mine, but I can contest for how much it helps!

It actually sounds very good, I have had alot of compliments on it. I think it sounds the best around 3000 rpms. It would probably sound alot better if I wasn't using the stock exhaust tubing but I like the way it sounds, its not quiet and it's not very loud. I also have 3.5" SLP tips, don't know if it makes a difference in the exhaust tone or not.

Yeah, I have noticed a big difference with my 3.73's installed, especially in the fuel mileage. Don't get me wrong, they are great especially at the tracks it just that I can't get traction from a dig. I used to have 2.73's and I think I was getting about 24mpg on the highway but now I'm getting like 17mpg. I should be back somewhere in the 20mpg-22mpg area after some few changes here soon.

I think a friend got video of me walking an LS1 at the track friday, he was so far back I could see him in the windsheild mounted rearview. Not the first, just the most recent.
A week before I dusted an I am assuming stock LT1 Vette and I didn't see him again after, hope I didn't upset him.

I have to give it up for a bro, nice work. as for who you ate alive, well just cause you think your ride is fast, there is always someone faster. A buddie had a '97 drop top T/A with a M6 and made a '68 Chevelle hide cause he smashed him in 2 gears, 1 then 2 and pull third to save the motor. and it was close to fair, 350 Gen 1 vs a LT-1. The Chevelle talked some smack on his **** being fast and was not. so speed is in the eye of the beholder, good luck on more kills....

ive ran my buddies 95 a4 before and completely spanked him but, all he had was the same exhaust you have minus the tune. im not saying i dont believe you by any means though anything can happen especially with a good tune. lol ive since purchased his car for a little bit of a project.

i've had a couple run in's with LS1's with my '96 Z with mixed results. A couple i beat pretty good, a couple were close and a few i got spanked. I had 3.73's, intake, tune, LongTubes, Full exhaust, cutout, 6 Speed, and most were surprised i hung with them or even beat them. I got SPANKED by a catback and lid LS1 T/A M6 one night and another LS1 T/A with just catback i beat by about a car length. It's hit or miss for me. With the Vette now i don't get many guys that want to race Even modded LS1 guys don't try it and i don't know why

They are fast but a Lt1 with more bolt ons will win if driven properly. And i do know a Ls1 is better and more responsive to mods thats not my point. My point is Lt1's can be fast and too many people think a lt1 with more mods cant beat a stock ls1. My buddy's trans am the 98 M6 just put on long tubes and a lid he traps 110-112.
