I've never been there, but I know the area. A friend that grew up with had family in spring hill. I'm from around West Monroe.

I'm lovin the LT1. I haven't got a clean 1/4 mile pass out of it with the current mods. My last time out on my first pass, I spun to a 13.66 @ 105.91 on a 2.3 60ft. I was told to slow down or go home because I didn't have a helmet, so I made 1/8 mile passes the rest of the night. On the 8.12 1/8 mile pass listed in my sig, I coasted to a 13.52 @ 62...lol That should have been a solid 12 second pass if I could have ran it on out. The car is down right now getting 4.10's and a couple hundred pounds of weight reduction. If I can catch some good weather, I'm hoping to run in the 12.50's next time out.

cool man, i am having a hard time deciding if i want to get an lt1 or ls1 vehicle. the main reason i like the ls1 cars better is because of the looks, but i have been reading and i see that i can convert the front end to look like the 98-02 body styles and the lt1s are cheaper i have been reading on here too, so thats whats making me think about getting the lt1 car, but i am worried that for the price of getting the lt1 car and converting the body and messing with the engine that i could just save up and buy the ls1 car. what do you think? is the lt1 easier to work on? and would i still save money by converting the lt1 car to look like the newer body style? sorry for the long post lol

If you prefer the look of the LS1 cars, I would suggest holding off until you can afford to get the one you want. I suspect that by the time you do a front end conversion and do enough power mods to make an LT1 run with an LS1 you would not be saving any money.

keep an eye on autotrader i saw a black 02 z28 with 82k for $10800 i went and looked at it. i called the following monday and said i really liked the car but wasnt thrilled about the mileage they said "well come make us an offer" i went by that wednesday and it was gone. i saw the car at a gas station i turned around and ask what he paid for it and he said $9900. my buddy brandon works at at car lot and he said that if a car has any mods (this car had carbon fiber tail lights and side markers different rims) when they go through the auction they sell very low he said the car lot prolly got the car for around $7000. he said cars that they get at a auction they will negotiate alot more because they dont have as much in the car. trade in cars are harder to negotiate on because the car lot has to give more for those cars. Another thing make sure you ask a car lot for a carfax if they hesitate theres prolly a reason. hope all this helps.

Your 8.12 is SOLIDLY in the mid-12's. With 4.10's and some weight reduction you'll be low 12's. Keep us posted. More LT1 love!

Just don't automatically assume that a heads/cam LT1 will beat a cam only LS1. There have been heads/cam LT1 setups making 350-430 rwhp, but there are also cam only LS1's making 350-430. An aggressive cam only LS1 will take out a mild to moderate heads/cam LT1 and visa-versa.

I agree to buy based on the looks over anything else with these cars.

ScreaminRedZ, thats really what im trying to decide. the looks. i like the 98-02 style better than the 93-97 style, and i want the ls1 engine the most but im scared i wont be able to afford one anytime soon, and i was hoping to get one within the next few months, but Powder96SS said he found an 02 SS and it ended up selling for $9900 and if i can find one for that low with an ls1 i will just get it. but i am really wanting to get a T/A i like the look of them a little better than the Camaros because of the front end. but i wouldnt mind driving a camaro either. just whichever i find cheaper

LS1's tend to blow the snot out of the intakes if they have a N20 backfire. It gets ugly when it happens. Unless your gonna mod the heck out of the car go LS1. PS people, get the LTCC and end these opti nightmares. I have had zero issue since doing mine about 1 &1/2 years ago.

Was thinking the same thing, they pop up here and there for cheap, you just have to be patient and look.

Thanks! It should be between 150 and 200 pounds lighter plus the 4.10's when I make it back out to the track. We had a negative DA the night I ran the 8.12, so that helped a lot. It's still on the stock tune and I have a couple more tricks up my sleeve. I'm hoping to break into the 11's with bolt ons by this spring.

Coonass, that's not a bad idea, looking for an LS1 in Florida. Go to the florida forum and do a search. There have been several nice LS1 cars for sale lately for under 10k. There was even one for 6500. I bought my LT1 car down here for only 2500, but I looked for almost six months and test drove about ten cars before I found what I was looking for. Funny thing was I spent most of that time looking at six speed cars. I bought the first A-4 car that I drove. Good luck on your search!

You can definitely get an LS1 for cheap (6-8K) as long as you're not looking for a mint low mileage one.

I don't think its been mentioned yet in this thread, but another advantage for the LS1 is the aftermarket support.

Yea..they are starting to get cheap..what I put into my Engine I can buy one of those cars for the price he just listed..

I will say this..I know it's been said a million times..the LSX Platform is a better power-producing setup..but in all reality and just like everything here, money is the name of the game..it's what you can afford..
