Default Metal shavings at the bottom of the oil tank???!!

What does that indicate? When I did oil change I saw some metal shavings with it, didn't check it again since last oil change. I also posted a question about a blue smoke out of the exhaust pipes, can you connect both issues together with your opinions. It's a 383 stroker. Thanks guys.

Um, blue smoke indicates it's burning oil. Your rings could have been digging into your pistsons/bore or something and creating the metal shavings + oil leaking past and getting into the combustion chambers.

Agree, blue smoke = oil. However you have a supercharger on yours according to the post, you might be getting oil in the combustion chamber through the pcv system, has it ran with the sueprcharger without blowing the blue smoke? is this something new? as far as metal shavings, could be coming from anywhere, like he said rings into bore is a possibility.

yea...thats not good. make sure you're monitoring your guages and monitor your oil changes. notice any performance loss? how old it the motor? how often is this blue smoke coming?

Thanks for all ur comments guys.
I bought this car back in september, was told this engine is newely rebuilt with around 5k on it, it's a 383 stroker. As for the supercharger, it came with it. I didn't really notice any lack of performance yet, I only drive this car on a weekend if it's nice outside. As for the blue smoke I only noticed it recently, I don't think it was making that smoke before but I might be wrong.
I only did oil change on it once, it didn't run for around two months weather was really bad but I changed oil on it last month, didn't even put 1000 miles on it since I bought it in september.
Your opinions r very much appreciated.

you can strain your oil with a paint strainer. that way you can get a better idea of what the shavings are coming off of. probably wont pinpoint anything but could at least rule out a few parts.

How exactly do you do that?

when you pull the drain plug put a paint strainer in the flow. obviously you still need a pan to catch the oil but the strainer will capture most of your metal and you can pick at it trying to figure out what is broken or wearing.

I just read this and wow. This reminds me of some idiots who put a vortech on a crate motor and f'ed his rings because they didn't let them seat properly. Kid bought the car not knowing about this and was basically screwed.

What oil are you using and how much?

Well, I'm using 10 w 30 unless you guys suggest something else, I use Valvoline high grade of course. As for my setup, I don't have a STOCK lt1, it's stroked and I have the receipts from the previous owner to show all the work so I'm not worried there, but I'd really like to know where the metal shavings are coming from, that must have something to do with the blue smoke I got sometimes.
If you run my video in my signature, towards the very end of the video you might be able to see some of the smoke I'm talking about, happened during that donut (When I got worried I was gonna hit the guy with the Camera and stopped for few seconds).. Check it out.

It wasn't a big place there I admit it, I didn't plan to do it in the first place but my buddy asked me to so I gave it a short shot. I'm gonna have to start by checking the copmression and take it from there.
