I think that if anyone wants to wander away from thier short bus for 2 minutes to EDUCATE themselves as an ENTHUSIAST, they will see that the mustang got short changed HEAVILY on the gearing end of most arguments, with a 3:27 being the BEST gear and only seen in later cars. I have a 94 GT with 2:73s stock. I have seen the stock 2:73d auto f bodies. Guess what they both have in common? Theyre slow. BIG difference from my 3:42'd m6 car. With good drivers, and you will see some really good/close runs with the pi2v cars stock for stock. Gears in a mustang, I have seen non Pi cars run lt1 cars on the street, same goes for 5.0s and its not like they don't respond at all.

Quit living under a rock and making excuses. I am completely befuddled by the ignorance shown in this thread and what seems to reflect on the street. Some of the dumbest most ignorant people I have ever met have been lt1 and stang kids. Each will put on a song and dance filled with lies and excuses.

There are 2 sides to every story, ups and downs on both cars. So stop freaking whining. 10 bolts suck, optisparks suck, working on an lt1 freaking blows. 4.6s are complicated to a 5.0, t5s suck compared to a t56, but at least I can work on a mustang without pulling my hair out. Heads come off a 5.0 without dropping the engine. Cam swaps are of ls1 ease.

Point being. Grow up and get educated.
I just thought this needed to be brought back, as i think some people could benefit from it.

stock for stock, 80's camaro. GT vs. IROC, IROC any day of the week. I still think the 80's Mustang resembles the Escort way too much. Until the early 90's, the Mustang really doesn't have anything to offer me. Other people like them and that's cool, but to me, they stand up too high and they need a body kit to set them down a bit.

I dont really think of 80s Mustangs as much of a muscle car... too ugly. Just my 2 cents though.

Well, if you're going to throw in a fox with aftermarket exterior upgrades, I'll throw this one at you.


No fox will ever look as good as that 3rd gen. You want to know the best part? It's got the looks backed up by an LS1 and T56.

LS2's were a big dissapointment. I don't think it takes much of anything to beat them. But rest assured I've seen my fair share of "for what you paid for your LS7 Vette I can get my LS1 in the single digits". **** rolls down hill for sure.

I think Vince Young could learn a lot from Joe. He has the tools but just hasn't quite figured out how to properly use them yet. Tony Romo on the other hand is on his way to being an elite QB. Too bad he chokes in the playoffs

seen it, looks good but nothing special, of course the owner doesnt know the color code... does anyone else?? it was asked on thirdgen.org and no1 knew it...

and the fox i posted isnt neccessarily stock either, mpt70 ftw...

****. i dont know much about ls2s i just knew they were in the 500hp vette i just figured they were better. none of my friends have an ls2 but stock gtos at the track with ls2s seem to put up pretty good times. i know the ls2 in the gto is no 500hp.

I'm not sure what the color code is. But, I think the color is called Bahama Blue. A guy I worked with last summer was painting his S10 that color. The Bahama blue may have been a little lighter though, I'm not exactly sure.

The LS2 was used in the GTO and was rated at 400 FWHP. They were running high 12's to low 13's stock at 106-110. It was probably just the IRS and extra weight but I wasn't too impressed with those times for a 400 HP motor.

The C6 Vettes were also running this 400 HP engine. They were running mid 12's @ 113. I have raced two LS2 C6's at my track and beat them both (barely). Maybe I was just expecting more but I wanted to see high 11's from a 400 HP motor. But I guess the IRS is killing them too.

The 500 HP Vette is the C6 Z06 and that has the LS7 motor. That is a bad ****. Low to mid 11's @ 122-125 although there was one guy that did run a high 10

there has been another guy or to break 10's stock and quite a few 128-130mph traps, the further we get away from the release of the c6z the better the times will get as more people can afford them and get use to them

I would rather drag with a fox mustang any day of the week than a third gen f-body. Just a better platform to build a quarter mile car on. JMO.

I met the guy who ran the tens at MIR last year when I still had my trans am he was a realy cool guy and had awsome advice

Yeah, for an ultimate dragster setup. But, we're talking about looks right now. And a Fox body doesn't even have the potential to look nearly as good as a 3rd gen.

I disagree, I love 3rd gen f-bodies they are my favorite camaro and my favortie car, ill try and find some pics of mine. fox bodys are ok, but they are nothing speacial. seeing a really clean 3gen is. not to mention i have never seen a car that has worse rust problems than fox-body mustangs. every one of my buddys fox's had or has rotted floors and quarters.

The tables can always be reversed. I get the same red lt1 camaro just about everyother day at lunch trying to race. He actually pulled up next to me and said if im scared say in scared. I told him i was scared shitless he was gonna break his 10 bolt and drove off. I just love the **** talking people do about my cars. When i was in high school I would always talk about how I was gonna get this car or that car but i was still walking. I would go back in between wanted a eclipse mustang or a camaro. That was in 96. After getting out of school i had a good job so I went out and got my high school dream cars. I have a 96 Mustang GT 96 Camaro Z28 and a 95 Eclipse GSX. Three underdog cars that get no respect. But thats what I like the most. The look on some peoples face is priceless when they have their money taken from them.
