Electric Water Pump Suggestions
I have a very mild LT1...only addition to the engine is the LT4 hotcam kit. Not going to be a high powered drag car (truck) when I finish the build. I want to add an electric water pump, however. Browsing the net I have found 4 different brands of electric pumps...Meziere (spelling?), CSR, Summitt, & Jegs. I am looking for the best deal as well as a pump that doesnt go out or leak after 2 months of use. It seems that the Meziere pump is the top of the line...however it costs significantly more than the others. Is the CSR pump a good, reputable pump? what about the Summitt/Jegs pumps?? Are they manufactured by CSR or someone then sold at a cheaper price? Again, this vehicle will not be driven at the strip or auto crossed...just cruising and taking me to work once or twice a week. Any suggestions would be great!

i bought a meziere hd pump from summit. flowed the most of what ive seen, 55gpm. you have to cut the fan shroud a bit but overall real easy to install. also ordered the painless harness with it which made for a clean install. with this pump i have noticed no increased cruising temps as others have stated. according to the gauge runs about 175. not sure if i would buy one for the sole purpose of street driving. doubt the hp gained would be noticeable enough just driving.

My car had a Meziere on it when I bought it. The pump was pretty noisy and was starting to leak. I replaced it with a CSR unit and havent looked back. Its dead silent and I have yet to notice any temp differences.

^^^ haha,i think i know who you're talking about.
back to topic - CSR EWP for almost 20,000 miles here,no leaks,no noise,
keeps my LT1 cool in the hottest of days in heavy traffic w/ the AC blasting.

If its not going to be a high power drag vehicle...why bother with an ewp? Once it goes...it doesnt have the signs that the spline/dowl driven water pump has, and if you dont catch it before it goes..your going to be out alot of internals.

Um b/c you can buy a relayed warning kit to tell you when it's going $60 is cheap insurance to be able to swap a waterpump in 25min and have it last just as long as a stock one with better cooling capacity.

Next question and I'm sure this is an understood YES... Painless relay kit. Anyone use it? Worth the 30 bucks?
