Default MGW + Pro 5.0 Review

Let me start off by saying that I am probably the first person here on tech to sell my 5.0 and go with the new MGW. I wasnt planning on it but I did after a friend mentioned it to me. (I was going to revert back to stock)

Im glad I didnt. I love the MGW shifter 10 times more than my pro 5.0. On the Pro, the centering springs were baby dick weak! I didnt like them at all and they didnt seem as stiff as the stock hurst that came in my car. With the MGW spirings, you wont have to worry one bit! These things are built! Nice and stiff and have no problem returning the shifter back to center.

Among other little tid bits. This is by far the quietest shifter that I have had delt with so far. And I have delt with all the shifters made for the t56. The shifts are smooth and do not seem as notchy as my Pro did.

Hope this is what some of you were looking for. If you are thinkning about this shifter, DO IT! Bar far the best out there!

Nice, this is what im looking for, for sure!!! My buddy has a pro 5.0 and his car feels great, but since this is out and my car is away, i wanted to see if Pro 5.0 is still the top shifter! But one person isnt enough to judge on, so i would like to see more opinions, Nice pictures i cant wait for this snow to melt

Thanks for the info and pics. Did MGW go out of business recently and come back to life? Where did purchase yours? PM me if it's not a sponsor. I did a writeup on a competing board a few years back on a cheap way to fix the "baby dick" weak return springs on the 5.0, not sure why they didn't come from the factory with beefier springs.

Nice looking shifter...I have a Pro 5.0 myself.

Any chance you could get a video of how it shifts?? That would be cool for comparison.

Google MGW shifters. You have to call to place an order because they dont have this shifter online yet. It cost more than the Pro 5.0 but less than $210.01. LOL

I did some digging and it seems as though they run about $200 plus shipping and can only be purchased from MGW. They don't list the F-Body stuff on their website yet, so you have to call them to order. The problem now is they are closed until Jan 5th. I will be ordering one asap. I love it. I would even go as far to tell all the pro 5.0 people to sell their crap just to get an MGW.

MGW is the way to go. Installed mine a week and a half ago. Never going to switch. It's rock solid.

I have not personally bought it. I have a friend that has it in his car that I have driven more than a few times. So I guess that can count. LOL

They compare in the fields that they feel the same. The sticks are night and day. You have B&Ms, which is tall and non-adjustable. Then you have MGWs, that is just short enough for the short stick feel but you can adjust it to make it higher if needed.

The MGW also seems to be a tad quieter over the B&M.

On another note, Pro 5.0 seems to amplify the sound through the shifter up into the car.

Im sticking with MGW and never going back! MGW is the new Pro 5.0

I've driven MGW's in Cobra's and didn't like them. My Pro 5.0 drives fine.

I installed my MGW shifter this weekend and you're right, this thing really does have a much better centering mechanism than the Pro. I haven't driven it yet though, waiting on my Tick MC to come in. NBM-LS1, I like the way you cut the #6 boot to fit around the boot that came with the shifter. I did mine the same way. Much cleaner fit than not cutting the boot as posted in another thread.

Cut #6 boot:
