Difference between 98-00 and 01-02 slaves ?
The slave in my 2000 T/A is in mint working order. I have an upgraded Tick MC coming and a new clutch from Kentucky Clutch. My question is, what is the reason for the upgrade to the 01-02 Slave? Im hoping that i can leave my current stock slave full of fluid then add the Tick performance ( bench bled ) and then only have some minor bleeding to do once I re-install everything.
I do have a NIB 01-02 slave to install but after reading all the horror stories about people bleeding out their systems out, It makes me wonder if the "upgrade" is even worth it.
Thanks

Yes..some slave have been known to be different in size. Only by 1/8th or so but thats alot when it comes to our picky ls1's. It can mean the difference between premiture wear or not engaging the pressure plate fully, which is my issue now I think. I suggest when you get the trans off and out.....measure the slave to the base of the trans.

Get a Speed bleeder!!! They are awesome! And upgrade the slave. Its cheap insurance that you won't burn up your new clutch. And your going to love the TICK MC. The speed bleeder from Tick is easy to install and use.

a few post belows urs at the moment from 87GN Rickie, we are going through the same thing on his car, from KY Clutch. Sadly i have one of their setups in my dads car with no issues ever, but his and urs sound the same recently, replaced his, MC, and slave, did the whole shim job and the pedal still feels spongie. Disconnected the line from teh slave to check the MC, stiff as a rock, so obviously that works. But with new shims, no leakage from the slave, we cant tell what the problem is. I know after all this im personally not going to go back to them, but his pressure plate is Spec from KY Clutch, is yours as well?
