My stock t-56 has 140k miles on it, with a Centerforce Stage 2 clutch and Fidanza aluminum flywheel. I'm changing the fluid on it tomorrow and i was wondering what you guys recommend filling it back up with.

if it every day driving/ some time racing, then any cheap regular dex 3 ( oreilly brand or advance auto part brand, valvoline ? is good.
if it racing all time and high rpm shift, I would use pennzoil syncromesh.

I highly recommend dexron 3 ATF cause your trans has alot of miles on it. I put royal purple in mine when my trans had about 50 k miles and after awhile my 3rd gear would grind when i shift into 3rd gear. I drain the royal purple out and filled back up with ATF dexron 3 and grinding went away. A friend of mine tried pennzoil in his 02 camaro SS and was getting locked out of 4th gear i told him to put Stock dexron 3 ATF back in it that would eliminate his problems.

This is the correct fluid to use.

Part number 88861800, I put that in google and clicked shopping.
I read about it here. https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...iii-atf-2.html
And found the quote below here: http://www.sandyblogs.com/techlink/2...dexron-vi.html

TIP: Any vehicle that previously used DEXRON-III for a manual transmission or transfer case should now use p/n 88861800 (88861801 in Canada) Manual Transmission and Transfer Case Fluid.

For automatic transmissions they recommend and regulate Dexron VI. What that means is you can buy Super Tech Dex VI from walmart and it will be the same as Dex VI in the GM bottle. THIS IS FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS ONLY.
You can't find anything any more that says Dexron III, it will say for use in vehicles previously serviced with Dexron III. Meaning it may vary from one brand to the next.
The correct fluid for a T56 is GM part #88861800 it's regulated by GM, and it replaces Dexron III in manual transmissions and transfer cases. This is not Dexron VI.
Sure you can put Dex/Merc, etc in it and it'll work fine.

pennzoil Syncromesh makes my transmission feel "notchy". I also heard from a few reputable transmission builders that I should not be using it in my transmission. I'm going to switch to some sort of DEXIII if I can find it.

You can use GM part #88861800 manual trans fluid as a replacement for Dexron III. Or use a low quality Dex III compatable fluid from a parts store.
