Flywheels
I will be replacing my clutch in spring. I will also be swapping out my flywheel. What is the difference from a stock unit and an LS6 and Billet steel? I put up a post once before to decifer between an aluminum and steel, and most said for drag racing you want a steel and for road racing you need an aluminum. I drive my car only in nice weather and in the non-salt season. I like to drag on the weekends. What is the best flywheel for me? Any responces appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Well the billet is lighter slightly than the stocker, but usually higher quality.
If your replacing the OE clutch , I like the whole cluch set-ups like Ram & Mcleod offer.
Pressure plate , disc, & flywheel.

depends also on what kind of clutch you get. some disks are harder on the aluminumumumumum flywheels then the steel ones. the steel ones also will help you on launching. the lighter a flywheel is the more you bog and less torq you have. but they do allow the motor to rev a bit faster.. but for drag racing, IMO give me the steel ones..

Daily (well weekend) driver. Want better than stock. Possibly drag once in while. I would go with the Z06 set-up. Comes with flywheel. Feels like stock (because it is in the Z06). I used one for almost 2 seasons of drag racing. More than 400 launches. Held like a champ. I removed it to bump up to nitrous and the McLeod set up. I believe I only paid like $450 for the entire set-up. I tried to look on a couple of the sponsor's sights just can't find one. Call Thunder Racing, TBryne or Texas Speed, I'm sure they can help.
If you really want a little more try the McLeod Single Disk and adjustable master. Now this set up will with stand almost anything a stock engine (and even with nitrous) that you can throw at it. Mine lasted 2 seasons 300+ launches at 5800 rpms on nitrous. Most of the sponsors sell this set-up.
