There have been posts about it not being good for the blocker ring frictions. Search and read.

Dexron is fine. Use it.

I've tried royal purple syncromax, was quite a few years ago, i would get syncro zing noise when shifting around town. Ran it for less than 1000 miles, changed it out with pennzoil synchromesh (same as gm part #12345349). have almost 60k on car now with no real shift problems, 02 ss.

Stay away from R/P.

I am a big Synchromesh fan. I do though want to try out GM Synchromesh FM

FM standing for Friction Modified. Heard some good things about it.

I had it in my last trans and liked it, it wasn't stiff on cold mornings like the dextron oil I'm using now.

The big boys like Tick Performance always recommend regular old Dexron III. I use pennzoil syncromesh.

I would stay far away from RP for my transmission. Have heard too many bad things. If you're gonna use a synthetic, use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF.
