Question T56 whine in 2001 T/A

My buddy just picked up a 2001 T/A with a T56. We drove it from Pensacola Florida to St. Augustine with no issues, however, the trans was making a whining sound in every gear. It was also very notchy when shifting.

We also had a bit of fun getting on it and it seemed to have slipped because it over revved, but was still in gear; I'm guessing the clutch is slipping.

Thanks guys!

Now that you mention it, there was a smell of trans fluid IIRC.

Thanks man!

hopefully not a toasted input shaft bearing. dunno if that'll cook some fluid.

The trans seemed strong, but what do we know, lol... Here's to hoping it's just fluid!

If its whining, it's probably trash. It will need an input shaft, cluster gear and probably a few bearings along with who knows what once it's opened up.

WTF!? It went from maybe oil to trashed in less seconds than Veyron hits 60mph!!!

Well the Source knows his T56 so it's probably a safe bet that it's trashed!

Thanks Bro!

I have to say dude you will have a great experience dealing witht the t56 sponsers here

I mailed out mine and it's been excellent. Would never go to a general local yocal again

Spending a G on a ten year old trans is money well spent. You feel the difference everytime you drive. Slow or fast.
