Default T56 bellhousing measurment

Hello all, I'm new here and have a question. I have a T56 from a LT1 and want to change it over to fit a LS1 engine, I understand I need to change the bell housing, input shaft and the front plate!?! I'll be looking to find those parts as soon as possible.
My question for now is my LT1 bell housing, is 5" wide, is the LS1 bell housing the same lenght??? I want to start mocking up my LS/T56 in my 72 Nova but dont want to waste my time building a new trans cross member if the LS T56 wont fit it

Thanks Skippie

Anybody? Just want to know the distance between where the bellhousing bolts to the tranny and where it bolts to the block, on a stock aluminum LS1 bell housing

Thanks, Skippie

I dont think you can use a number like 5 or 5 1/4 wide (max place). I dont now it it fits dead center on your tunnel, or how much taper it has to use a number like that. Thats a common swap so think you could find someone that tried it to tell you.

Do you meen how deep is the bellhousing? like from the face of the housing to where the midplate mounts to? What year of t56 do you have they have an odd ball year (93) that you cant chance the input for a input with a LS1 input.
