Default high pitch whine

Whine goes away when you push in the clutch. Pilot bearing or release bearing? It's not in the transmission.obviously more noticeable in 1st and 2nd.

If its a whine, I would say it is in the transmission. If it is more of a squeal, it is more than likely a bearing. Pilot bearings will usually make noise in between shifts where the transmission input shaft is forced to break speed with the engine crank shaft.

High pitch squeal. In between shifts.

Sounds like a pilot bearing. Don't be surprised to see the tip of the input shaft on the transmission destroyed as well when you remove it from the car.

So I might need an input shaft as well.

Don't discount a bad rear, which typically whines and is heard thru the shifter. A bad pilot will typically be less noticeable in 4th gear.

Nah the rear is fine. It's definitley a bearing. Sounds like a bird chirping between 1-2 2-3. Don't hear much after that. Monster says "DO NOT GREASE THE PILOT BEARING!!" So we didn't.

I always like to rub a little bit of high temp grease in there regardless of what any directions say. You just don't want to put too much or you chance getting it on the clutch disc surface which will ruin it.
