Default Running a McLeod RXT? Come in!

Planning a turbo build, expecting to be in the 700 rwhp range. I've heard great things about the RXT, but can I run it with a stock LS1 flywheel? Can I run the LS6 slave cylinder that is already installed? Can I keep my Tick adjustable master?

Lots of questions. Any help is much appreciated.

I have the RST (same setup, different discs) and used my LS1 style Spec flywheel and stock slave and master. There is no reason that you can't run the Tick.

I'm wondering if I can have the stock Flywheel resurfaced, or if I'd be better off opting for the McLeod Billet Flywheel

The RXT also states you must run a minimum 13/16" bore slave cylinder. Cannot seem to locate what size bore the LS6 slave is, as that's the one I'm currently running.

You can run the Tick master, I run it on mine. I put ~700rwhp through my RXT with the old nitrous setup and plan on pushing it harder with the turbos. Best clutch I've ever driven. Pulled to inspect it after almost 2 seasons and it had virtually zero wear on it.

I believe you mis-read...13/16" refers to the MC bore size. Typically "twin" disc clutches require slightly more stroke from MC so slave can disengage the clutch.

I don't have the RST/RXT twin but the "street twin" for the LT1. It also requires a 13/16" MC. MC and billet FW are part of the kit for LT1. LSx twins you can use your stock FW (suggest resurface) and stock "slave/TO bearing"

If your stock FW is trashed get the billet one.

McLeod sells MC (made by Wilwood) or many use the TICK but I don't know its bore size.

What tranny were you running with 700rwhp?

It was what most call a "stage 2" t56 (billet keys, bronze pads, carbon blockers etc) for 4 seasons. Went 10.40s/135mph at 3850lbs with it. Last year I freshened that trans (only needed new pads) and put it in my truck and built a faceplated t56 for the camaro. Still on the stock main shaft for now. If I break it with the turbos I'll put a 30 spline in it.

You can run the factory LS1/LS6 factory flat style flywheel. If you decide to go aftermarket make sure the center crank hole relief is no larger than 6.250" otherwise the discs will sit in open air and not on a drive surface.

As far as large bore master cylinder are concerned we recommend factory hydraulics both master and slave. The pressure plate was designed around the stroke of the factory master and slave combination. When you introduce large bore master cylinders such as our McLeod 13/16" or Tick 7/8" this makes the slave cylinder travel farther which can over center the pressure plate causing the discs to prematurely burn up.

Cool, thanks. Cryo treated internals too I guess? The stage 2 from Tick seems very reasonable.... eventually I want a faceplated Viperized unit, but probably not spending the money on that now.

No cryo/polish on any internals. Not worth the investment IMO.

Interesting. Had never heard that before.

If I were to go with an aftermarket FW, are there any you'd specifically recommend for use with the RXT?

Who's running the best price on the RXT these days? Looks like I can grab one from Co Speed for $842.40 shipped to my door. Any sponsors able to beat that?

Well, I've officially taken the jump into the world of FI with the Huron Speed V2 kit.

If anyone can beat the aforementioned Colorado Speed McLeod RXT price, please let me know! Otherwise, will be placing a large orger with them here shortly!
