Default look at my flywheel...Rust!!

Why is there rust on it............... ive had it maybe a month in the box
this after i sprayed WD-40 on it

I think these are made out of steel
rust is normal. That actually does not look bad to me.

ya its billet steel............ i freaked out when i saw it, but its ok ?

I think its fine, steel just rusts not much you can do about it. When your clutch starts engaging on that sucker it will keep that portion clean,

My last billet flywheel looked similar to yours and is working ok.

It's just like brake rotors. When they're not in use for a while, even a short while, they rust and look like ****. But once they get used, even just a 2-second tap on the brakes, the rust is gone and they look perfect. Like these guys have said, it's normal and nothing to worry about it.

Nothing to worry about. I would be worried about leaving that wd-40 on there though. No need to lube up something you want to grip. Use some brake cleaner on there if you already haven't.

And WD-40 repels water that is already on the surface of something, but actually attracts water to something that is dry... weird stuff.

It looks like "hand prints" where you had it out of the box. Skin oils and such will cause that same thing. Clean it off with brake clean and you'll be fine.
