Default Tremec T-56 Magnum "F" - Please Tell Me this is real!

I do not know if this is news or old. But i stumbled upon this from motoiq.

Looks like we are going to have another option and some much needed secondary market re-invigoration due to the swaps!

This is a new production of T56 Magnums made specifically for F Bodys!

Only took them how many years of advertising the T56 Magnum as a direct bolt in for 93-02 Fbodys to realize its really not. I went through this back in 2012 when i dropped one in and it was NOT a simple bolt in and go. Custom shifter was needed to correct the offset of the shifter hole to where the shifter actually sits on the trans.

Is this truly going to be a straight bolt in deal? minus the different splines for the driveshaft of course.

After watching the video, that really doesn't look like a new unit built from Tremec to me. It looks like a T56 Magnum converted to an F Body by a 3rd party, possibly for Tremec to use as a promotional piece to gauge interest in the product before committing to it. Biggest red flag I see is what appears to be painted bolts on the unit. In 20+ years of dealing with T56 units, I have never seen a new unit with any paint on it, anywhere. Tremec has been teasing this unit for several years now and has never released it but maybe thats going to change. I just wouldn't get your hopes up, yet.

Tremec have been claiming for years they'll be doing an F Magnum.....wouldnt hold my breath.

All the current F Magnums are conversions.

I called Tremec. They confirmed and said it would be released in the fourth quarter of this year. No info on pricing.

It is literally a Magnum trans that will be a direct bolt-in for F-body cars from Tremec. No need to have output shaft machined to fit. It will shift like butta...just as the initial Magnum does currently.

Could it be true ?

And curious it needs to be a Supra seller to get the word out there first ?

Yes it was released yesterday. I spoke with Tremec last week and they confirmed the reality but wouldn't discuss details until after the release. There was supposed to be information Friday on their site though I don't see anything there. I have a Magnum for a 240Z build that I will put that new tail on (or just sell and replace if that's easier).

Yep...and the original T56 was rated around 400-450lbft....and we all know often it will handle double in most normal car setups, nothing super heavy etc.

The aftermarket Magnum sellers tend to claim 900lbft....which is obviously a made up number because they've changed nothing whatsoever inside that will make it handle more lol

But it still has bigger gears, wider gears, better synchros, stronger 5/6 arrangement, stronger mainshaft and input.

Really, there are do downsides. The only option that is missing really, is the 6060's oil pump.

The "Hype" is that it's available as an F configuration from the factory. The Magnum itself is the same as it has been. The 700 ft/lb rating is pull it from the box, throw it in your car and run in the drag strip all day. They are a pretty tough unit. Like stevieturbo posted, most all the upgrades are there.

Ah so it's very under rated, makes sense.
