Default Who runs a Mantic clutch?

I am debating a Mantic Dual Disk organic clutch for my 434CID build, and I would like to know what people think of them.

First one arrived with wrong parts, but they eventually got it squared away after numerous calls, emails, etc. Second one ripped the hub off the disk and could no longer get ahold of them for support. Gave up and threw it all in the trash, wont ever use them again.

that is as bad as my experience with McLode. They fucked up the rebuild twice. I do not have a garage, so paying for a clutch install twice sucked.

I am super gun-shy of rebuilt clutches, so I could buy a new Summit dual disk clutch/flywheel for the rebuild price of Mantic.

I thought you were going to try the Summit twin?

I have a Mantic 9000 twin but haven't driven the car yet. It's extremely well engineered and arrived in an aluminium suitcase. A friend in Sweden says he can press the pedal with his fingers and it's great to drive with. I went with his recommendation. A friend in Canada bought the Summit one which represents good value for money. He says it's really heavy weightwise and has regrets about that. I used to use a Mc leod street twin which worked really well. They look pretty crude (pressure plate) compared to the Mantic which I'd describe as a precision engineering piece. I got mine from Geoff Gerko, Mantic USA.

Mantic flywheel and pressure plate stands.

Billet pressure plate.

Both plates and a finished assembly.

I also had a Street Twin. It was great until I had it rebuilt, and McLeode fucked it up TWICE. I didn't give them a 3rd try.

Now I am hesitant to buy a clutch with the intent to have it rebuilt.

The rebuild price of the Mantic is the same as the Summit. That is the deciding factor....how likely is it that a rebuild would go wrong, and would Mantic reimburse the cost to remove/replace the clutch again.

Doubt any clutch supplier would cover the cost of a removal or installation. After all, they only sold a clutch. It could have been fitted by a monkey or abused. If you buy from a place that sells the clutch and does installations then it could be a different matter, in the UK. Not sure about the US.

Just thinking, what's to rebuild anyway? There aren't many componants to a clutch or have I misunderstood something? Is it the cost of the parts?

new clutch plates, resurfacing, and new bolts, I think.

It worked ok for awhile, apparently its a more common problem than they want to admit.

I went through 2 different street twins......nothing but problems. Had them do rebuilds , sent it back to them a bunch of times, went round and round with the tech guys and others at Mcleod....finally gave up.

My McLeod RST was not a fan of launches lol. Otherwise a good clutch though. Haven't tried the Mantic, but the pricing doesn't make sense to me. I don't care about fancy billet mixed with unobtanium. I care about holding power and pedal pressure....and for anyone whose ever run a Spec stage 5....noise So far the Summit has been my favorite. I really liked the Southbend clutch I had but it wouldn't hold the power.

Will a triple disk clutch fit on an F-Body? Just thinking future, if I add a supercharger.

You dont need a triple disc just because you add a blower. That Summit comes in a 1000ftlb version and several other clutch companies make higher powered models too.

Aren't all of those metallic disk clutches? I thought that the metallic disks kill the drivability?
