New Mamo Motorsports Mantic twin clutch with pics
Bought a 22k mile ‘03 C5 Z06 in September. Car is crazy nice of course and still smells like a new car inside. I drove it home on original tires for instance. It’s an untouched car that needs drove. I bought this for my 18 year old son actually, so I know it will see some miles. We’ve done the usual corvette C5 stuff such as replaced the EBCM, new ATI damper, oil pressure sender, etc. I picked up a set of ARH 1 7/8” headers with catted x-pipe from Tony Mamo shortly after purchase. While talking to Tony, I asked him about his newest clutch offering, the lightweight Mantic 9000 twin. Good timing, because my son gets home from school and tells me the slave took a dump, as the clutch pedal stuck about half way up, on the way home. It needs a slave, but I’m not about to even consider replacing the slave on a C5 without throwing a clutch at it. Call Tony back, and it’s on the way, along with a new OEM slave. I went with the ceremetallic version. Tony also offers the lightweight unit in an organic version if your interested in that. How about some pictures…
Heres what comes in the package, even the ARP bolts. It’s a work of art for sure. Tony has Mantic zero balance the entire unit. This eliminates the dreaded shifter rattle in C5/C6 vettes, and obviously helps with harmful harmonics that will rob power also.

Here’s some pictures showing weights, for those interested…
This is flywheel weight, right out of the box. Looks good also. Flywheel is SFI rated as well.

My new OEM slave I bought with the kit. Also put a 3’ speed bleeder in the car. Because it’s a corvette. If you’ve never tried to bleed the clutch in a corvette, you won’t understand.

Going to bolt the new slave to the front of the torque tube about right here…because pics are fun for everyone right?
Car is above me here, on my lift. Not a fun venture by any means in a Vette, but I got to turn wrenches with my 18 year old son and that was awesome.

So here’s my take on the new MMS Mantic ceremetallic twin, offered exclusively through Tony Mamo at Mamo Motorsports…
1. The clutch pedal feel is a little harder than the LS6 clutch was, which is good. No more “wet noodle” clutch pedal. You actually have some pedal feel with this clutch.
2. I did NOT shim this clutch and it grabs about right in the middle of travel maybe…maybe 1/8” above factory location.
3. ZERO chatter. Clutch release is smooth. No jerky uneasiness or surprises here. It does what you tell it to do.
4. Clutch pedal window is as wide as stock LS6 clutch. It’s not an on/off switch. It’s just as wide as stock. I can slip it for days without issue. I did NOT change clutch master, only the slave.
5. My son is 18 and been driving a stick since the summer. If he can drive this, then anyone can. My mom could drive this car.
6. Moment of inertia is much lower so the engine really zings up and back down quickly. I haven’t touched the tune yet, and it’s ok. With a little tuning here, it will only get better.
Tony is a gentleman and has the best customer service in the industry. His reputation stands alone in the industry and he will go way, way above what it takes to make sure your completely comfortable and happy with the purchase, not only of this clutch, but any of his products he offers for that matter. I recommend the clutch highly, if your remotely interested in a lightweight, yet extremely driveable clutch setup.

Here’s a better pic of total weight showing that I did weigh it with the billet steel drive blocks…

Looks pretty sweet! My recent clutch budget wasn't high enough tho, looks like on the Mantic site MSRP is about $2200 USD.

I obtained the same Twin 9000+ Ceremetallic through a local dealer for $1800 in 2020, surely they have gone up since then. I have granular weights somewhere but all I can find at the moment are my overall totals; 30.75lbs for all except the flywheel, 15.5lbs for the flywheel. No photos of the James Bond case?!
Edit: I found my granular Mantic weights:
Mantic
---
Flywheel ~15.5lbs (bath scale)
Spacers 30.34oz (avg)
Red cover: 79.2oz
Plate 1: 61.4oz
Disc 1: 45.2oz
Plate 2: 59.4oz
Disc 2: 51.0oz
Total 296.2oz
--
Bolts, nuts, washers: 312.73g
Spacers+clutch+Hw=337.57oz (21.1lbs) + flywheel (15.5lbs)=36.6lbs
---

Lol…I knew someone would ask. It’s a one owner ‘87 step side that I built for my brother. He commissioned the build of course. He bought it new. Custom ordered it with step side bed, 350, 4 speed manual, A/C, midnight blue paint, G80 rear end. It was $14k and he thought he’d never get it paid for. I drove it to school once in ‘88. It only had 6” lift then on 35” Ground Hawgs.
He’s got more money in stainless socket cap fasteners…pretty much every bolt I could possibly change out on the truck…than most folks here put in their engine build. It’s nice. 58k original miles.

I didn’t get the fancy aluminum briefcase with this unit, and that’s ok by me. It wouldn’t help my cars performance in the smallest bit. 😜

Here’s a pic of the car that this clutch is in, the day I got it home. Hated to touch this thing honestly, but one has to do what one has to do….
