Who has the Z06 clutch?
I paid a lot for the spec stage II and I don't even have 400 horses to the wheels. I have like 375 w/N20. Supposedly it was good for 500 horses.
Can someone pm me if they know better prices than what I have above.

I do. the previous owner of my car had put it in and it is working great. Has at least 20,000 on it. Almost 5,000 with dr's and now it is living behind my G5X3 with no signs of faid.

oh yeah... I dont know why you have a clutch disc and cable on there. The Z06/LS6 kit comes with the flywheel, pressure plate, and disc. I'm assuming the bearing on there is the pilot. The only other thing you'd need is an 01+ slave if you haven't already replaced that. Where is there a cable in there anyway?

Im thinking of going this route, my clutch is slipping horribly, I cant even have fun with the car anymore. This seems like an affordable option as opposed to the spec 3 which I really want

Not knocking the Spec or people who have purchased it, but it's almost like a bandwagon clutch.

Horsepower isn't what matters its torque. But my ZO6 clutch held 510hp and 592tq, However that was with stock tires! with the 315 DR no problems but only a few hundred miles on it! I whent to the Ram for the 600+hp!

When my car had 35,000 (1,000 under the warranty!!) the stock clutch broke the rivets that hold the spline to the disc. Trust me, it made some pretty scary sounds, but you could drive the car, barely! Brought it to the dealer and I was rewarded with a new Z06 clutch under warranty!! The Gods were smiling on me that day!!!
Since the new clutch install, the car has performed great. The stocker used to slip badly after several passes at the track, but this one has pushed my stock car to a 1.96 60 foot time. I am impressed.

Well y'all can say all kinds of good stuff about Z06 clutches but here are a few pix of mine with less than 20k miles on it.
I like my spec much more & if the extra $400 keeps me from having to change my clutch again in 6 month's it was all worth it.

Those pics look pretty similar to my factory setup. Same burning on the flywheel and pressure plate, yet the disc still had pad left. What do you expect though? It's pretty much a stock replacment clutch - and what happens at the track with less than stellar stuff? It breaks! For those that don't take their cars to the track much, the LS6 kit is fine.

My car is a 02 which has the ZO6 upgrade.this clutch is great for the STREET. But did not hold up for me at the track. With less than 2000 miles on it it started to slip .It did hold up to 12 full slick passes dumping at 4500 and pulling a 1.62 60ft. running a 11.5 at 119mph My clutch was still good when I took it out and would be great for a street car, but as far as hitting the track on the weekends with slicks your gonna need a spec 3i. Check my sig. my car makes too much power for a ZO6 clutch. For the street-ZO6 for the track with a sticky tire- spec 3 i or 4 i

Again, to those that are still unsure about what clutch to go with... I figured it'd be at least a year before I get a cam (hell, might be even longer), and at the time all I have is a lid and a catback and drag radials, and I *might* get a LS6 intake before winter - so with just those mods, nothing more than the LS6 is needed. Once I start making around 350hp/350tq at the wheels then it'll be time to consider the Spec - and by that time, the LS6 setup will be on its way out anyway.
A clutch is just like your brakes, it's something that will need replaced. Why spend more money than you need to early on?

Here is a thought... I have driven a 99 SS with 20K on a Z06 clutch. The SS had all bolt ons with a 12-bolt and ET streets. Countless 6K launches no problems. What if how people are doing their burnouts is causing their clutches to slip? I know I have been to the track and seen cars just abused during there burnout. I am just throwing the thought out there. My experience with the Z06 is great. I am installing one in my car now.

I think the problem might come down to this.I have buddies running the 99 clutches and they are ok but that is some hard driving and not drag radials but lots of racing. The street tires maybe help some. But I killed my stock clutch in less than 5000 miles on my 99 .One big thing that kills clutches is slipping them. The best thing for a clutch is not to slip it just dump it.But that can be harder on tires and rear ends.
And our six speed rear ends are crap.
I have a cartech right now and while it seems to be holding up no problem I had nothing but problems getting the car to shift consistently.I had cartech modified stock master and it would shift good one day and then later same day or next day the setting on the master would drift.I got tired of that and went to mcleod master and now the setting holds and the car shifts better usually although lately going into first seems to be a bit of problem. And pedal pressure is now nuts.I am thinking hard of going to a z06 setup as my car is 99% street car.I do have nittos ,b1 cam and other bolts ons but no long tubes or heads.I have a nitrous kit that can install also if choose.
I am still unsure what to do.I want a good clutch with near stock pedal pressure and no chatter.I also am not sure I trust my mcleod master since some have had problems with them.I think want to run a stock master type clutch.I also go thru traffic and it needs to be very driveable. My cartech seems to get grabby in traffic when its hot.
That gets annoying sometimes.
Will the new c6 cars mean that we will have new options for clutches in our f bodies..
Or does the gto use a better clutch that will work in our cars??

woah, that sig is huge!
Anyway... a street car that's not getting launched all the time with sticky tires probably won't have much problem with a Z06 clutch - at least I wouldn't think so. I mean, if you think about it, it's even more than just slipping the clutch that kills it - it's traction as well. If you're running E/T streets or the like, then a clutch is probably not the thing you should worry about busting...
