Default LS6 Z06 clutch

Im assuming the GM LS6 OEM clutch I saw on MTI website is the same as a Z06 clutch kit? It seems reasonable for 425 bucks for clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel

anyone try this setup?

Whatever you get is eventually going to wear out, even if it's over kill now. If you are looking for a great bargain setup, the LS6 kit is the way to go. I think MTI's price is a little much though. Shop around and you'll be able to get it to your door for less than $400 i'm sure. Hell, just stop down by the dealership and see how much they might want. PN 12581650

FWIW: I've been making 4krpm clutch dump passes on the LS6 kit with Nitto's and it's still bogging. I am even getting tire in 3rd still. That's testament to this clutch not being junk.

Now, I'll say that a Spec setup might be better, but if you've got minor things done, and it's not going to be within the next month for a ton of things, then the LS6 setup is excellent. I went with the LS6 setup because it comes with the flywheel, is a fair price, will probably be a year before I am making 400hp at the crank, and I feel that buying a real heavy clutch seems to be more of a bandwagon thing rather than a necessity.

i just got a Z06 clutch, just put 400 miles on it, i had a spec stage 2 b4. i love my new clutch, it'll lay rubber no problem at all clean though 3rd. isn't quite of a beast of a clutch as my spec 2 but it sure is nice and is no doubt better then stock!

Considering I went thru 2 ls6 setups that didnt last. I went with a spec 3. I have the older spec and have zero chatter and I am happy with it.

I just ordered a ZO6 clutch kit from Scoggin Dickey for $324 before shipping and $115 for the slave w/ throwout bearing. Seems fair enough.
What was wrong with the 98-00 slaves anyway?

Mine was slipping with 385 rwhp and sticky tires......it'll hold 450 rwhp only if you drive like a grandma.

What power were you making though?

I think this clutch is fine for 350rwhp. Hell, it's holding on my buddies G5X3 car.

400 rwhp. And I baked both clutches So I figured I would upgrde. Not jumping on a band wagon either. I just wanted something to hold. I will really be testing this clutch once the blower is all finished. As of right now I have a t 56 being pulled to get viper internals

i dont' know, i just called them and told them what i wanted.
the only problem with ordering from them is that i had to look elsewhere to find the slave, since they mainly deal with Corvettes.

See, there is a legit reason to switch. I'd agree that's really past the limit of the Z06 clutch. When I mean people jumping on the bandwagon for a Spec or whatever are people with just exhaust and stuff. They are making around 350rwhp, and the LS6 setup should work just fine - IMO anyway.
