Default New Clutch installation

I'm a newb and I'm getting a new z06 clutch kit pretty soon for my 98 T/A. A lot of people talk about "driil mod" "JMD bleed method" "master and slave cylinder upgrade" "hydraulics" "pilot bearing" "throwout bearing" I don't know WTF they are talking about.

I want to know all the procedures to be done when changing a clutch. I also need an experienced shop that will do this job perfectly because I don't want to deal with this problem in a near future. I live in Arlington, TX so any DFW people that know a good shop PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
Thanks !!!

Clutches are not hard to install. All you need is the tools and a place to do it. If you dont want to do the install there are like 5 shops local that can do it for you. Good luck either way.

I'm sorry !!! I didn't make myself clear, what I ment to say was that I needed to know which are the things I need to buy besides the clutch kit to have less chances of messing up the clutch sooner. I can't do it myself because I don't have the tools and the place.

I went to AMS(arlington motorsports) but they told me that I didn't need the drill mod just the slave upgrade. they said it will take a whole day and they charge me 325 bucks and I don't know if its a fair price.

I bet if you offered to buy $100 worth of beer and pizza, you'd be able to come up with a few buddies who would help you out. Clutch and torque converter installs are perfect reasons to have "car parties". On jackstands and crawling around on my back, it takes me less than 6 hours to change a clutch on a stock car. On my car, it takes about an hour and a half with my lift.

Anyhow, yes, the slave is a good idea. I also like the drill mod, but it's "more work". You have to pull the master cylinder to do it. It is something that can be done in a driveway, but it's a bit of a pain (I have done it, only jacking the car up to disconnect the slave).

A pilot bearing is not a bad idea, it's about $14 from GM. Also, the "throwout bearing" is part of the slave cylinder, so you won't need to get one of those. I'd get the pilot bearing and slave cyl from SDPC (PM KJ@SDPC here).

Good luck!

man its nothing to do a clutch, i did it with my dad, grandfather and one of my friends up at my work. took about 4 hours for my first time doing it. yes, do the drill mod, slave cyl, if i were you, i would just skip the ls6 clutch and go to something better. i was gonna do that but i went with the spec stage 3 and im so happy that i did.
