Unhappy has anyone ever come across this? (long)

Last weekend I put my trans back in took it on a long drive to MD. no problems at all everything worked perfect like it should other than a small vibration. so next day i go to remove the DS so i can measure my pinion angle but there is a problem. the drive shaft will not come out of the trans. wont slide forward to release it from the rear yoke. i remove the TA so the rear can swing up and give some slack to release the DS. I got the rear u-joint out to the pinion yoke then try to pull it out of the trans, no go. so once again i drop the trans. i removed the DS from the slip yoke and thats where it is now. the slip yoke is locked in the rear of the trans. it spins free but will not slid off the main shaft. we have tried everything imaginable to pull it off but it wont budge even a (mm). attached is a pic of what i'm talking about. i have the front of the trans chained to a pole and the other end i looped a length through the yoke and attached it to a puller on the other side of another pole i used to try and seperated the two but no go. i'm at a loss on this one the only thing i can imagine is the splines somehow got damaged and locked it on. thing is the DS went in and out w/ no binding the night before so something had to happen on the ride to MD. w/ all this luck i've had w/ this trans i think i'm done w/ the whole t-56 deal all together.

Or the tailshaft bushing is siezed on the driveshaft yoke. Was it replaced on the rebuild?

yeah the bushing was replaced but thats not the problem. the yoke still rotates free and i removed the tail cover and it slides on the slip yoke so thats not the problem.

I've heard of this before... my buddy LJ had it happen to him.

He was making a little more power though. (Vortech blown 383 LT1)

He twisted the splines on his yoke, and it siezed on the mainshaft. Sounds like you need to get primal with it.

well i got the yoke out and here's a few pics of the damage. there was no spline damage on the yoke or mainshaft just the bushing/tailhousing/yoke. i cant explain how it got burnt up like that when there was no binding when it was installed and it rotated w/ no hang-ups. you can also see that it got super hot w/ how it scored the tail housing seat for the bushing. just curious does anyone know off hand what a new tail housing would cost?

There usually about $100 +. Lucky it wasn't worse than that though, have seen some have a melt down.

chained the trans to a pole in my garage and a length through the yoke and hooked it to a two-jaw puller on another pole and started cranking. it popped a few times when it was letting loose then it came right off. the heat must have also distorted the yoke cause it wont slide on the main shaft more than 1/3 of the way down. my stock yoke slips right on like before.
