Anyone have their reverse lockout fail?
Just as the title says.....
I was driving around town and took off from a light, 1st, 2nd, then reached over for 5th (as to save myself from rowing through all the gears) and it seemed to go a little farther than usually which felt odd, then GRRRRIIIIINNDD!!!!!! I was like "WTF?" Then I went to 5th and tried to go back to the reverse gear to see if it was still acting that way....the solenoid was then activated by that time.
I have had this happen to me about a handful of times since then. Each time- a slide of the shifter to 5th, shifter goes way farther to the right than usual, then a grind, then I get startled bringing my attention to the shifter and I slide it into 5th.
What the hell is going on here?

I did during a race once, went to slam 3rd got a little to eager and slammed reverse, luckly it didnt engage, just acted like I was in neutral Still works after that during normal driving, maybe it was just a fluke in my case

The solenoids fail with the load on. the power releives the load. If you have no restriction to the gate, you have plugged the wrong connector to the reverse solenoid( used the skip shift plug). It is most remote but I suppose your ECM could be sending an incorrect signal to the solenoid( not likely)

My trans has never been apart, had any plugs removed, and has no skip shift eliminator. Totally stock trans. I do have a very worn clutch though, so possibly the clutch could be engaged somewhat w/o me knowing it, sending power through the trans but not noticable enough to show any power through the driveline. So there could be a load and stopping the solenoids from working, or I just have a solenoid that is going bad.

I had this same thing happen with my car. It was very intermitent. My dealership replaced the reverse lockout solenoid under warranty (even though they couldn't reproduce the problem) and it hasn't happened since.
