Default 2nd gear burnout hard on clutch???

i have an 02 m6 car, so i have the z06 clutch. i have a linelock installed now. should i stay in 1st gear for my burnout with the stock clutch or is it safe to start in 2nd? also, ive never done a burnout with a linelock, so i would like to know.....at what rpms should i dump the clutch with the linelock engage....or does it matter? i just dont wanna wheel hop or anything and hurt my rear end...cuz its the stock 10 bolt.

Stock gearing, I say do it in 1st... if you have 4.10s/4.11s or higher, do the burnout in 2nd.

if first gear dump at 3-3500 with 342s if you do a second gear dump it at 4000+ itll snap the tires loose easier that way
btw get rid of that junk clutch so you dont have to worry about it

I've got an 02 SS, stock gearing, BFG DR, linelock. 2nd gear burnout is a piece of cake. Back into the water, then pull out, dump it about 2500-3000 and stand on it.

It spins them easy, and gets them hot much faster.

Piece of cake !

i guess it depends on what kind of tire you are running. a street tire would be easy to spin in second but a slick is a little different. i tried to spin mine over and my zo6 clutch slipped like hell

Do it at a red light next to a lady with a mini van full of kids. Step on the brakes turn on the line lock, get off the brake pedal, get on the clutch put it in 1st take it to about 4k and get dump it. Work the throttle as to not bog it down and when the light goes green release the line lock, youll start to roll out of the burnout, and youll leave to nice black marks.

On the street I would use 1st, but it really is harder on it than at the track. Unless you are just having fun, I wouldn't do it on the street, it really burns the rubber off the tread at a high rate.

The 1 time I attempted the 2nd gear burnout on the street(dry pavement) the clutch did more spinning than the tires.......and then the smell
I wouldn't recommend it on the street w/stock gears, especially if you're just practicing your burnout technique. Stick to the 1st gear burnouts - your clutch will thank you!

Here's what I do. Flip the switch, hit the brakes, hold down the botton, pump the brakes to make sure they're gonna hold, rev it to about 4500 (in first), drop the clutch and pedal it (withthe gas) between 4000-4700 rpms to make a real nice smoke show or heat em up just right.

That's what I did on a stock clutch and 3.73's. I'm getting a Spec 3 installed, but I'll still do it the same.
