Not a clue when they'll be taking orders...I'd be interested to hear what they have to say. I might give them another call myself. The guy on the phone seemed to be fairly straightforward with me, but then again, I didn't ask him the % of the ester bases either.

So far though, the Torco is by far my favorite transmission oil. I will give SF another shot in my transmission since I only used it on this one to break it in.

How has the Torco been holding up for you?

Is this the stuff?

I plan to use their gear oil in my 12 bolt and figured I would give their ATF a shot in the T56 as well so I can order it all at once.

Great actually...still loving it, even in the bitter cold we've had here as of late. Still shifts very nicely at all RPM ranges. The link you provided is correct...that's the stuff. I'll also be putting their 85w140 RGO in my Strange when I get around to it (haven't installed it yet).

Thanks for the follow up.Looks like I will give it a try myself.

I also plan to run the 85w140 RGO in my Moser 12 bolt with the F*RD posi additive since everyone seems to hate the GM additive (and after discussions with chicane on the subject of 12 bolts and Eatons).I wanted to try Schaffer but it is just to hard to get ahold of in singles.

Thanks!

Agreed...I got the GM additive for my rear, but I had read where people preferred the Ford stuff as well. I might go ahead and order that too since I haven't put the oil in yet.

I was gonna get some of the Schaffer oil too, but it was much easier to source the Torco.

Do not use Synthetic in a stock t56. There are paper parts (yes paper/cardboard) in your tranny that will disolve if you use synthetic fluid.

This is a rumor that has never been proven. I actually started a thread on this a long time ago hear and also over at LS1.com (which was lost when they changed boards), and basically no one posted that they'd used synthetic and it ate their blocker ring material. To be fair, a small few, like a 2-3, posted they used synthetic and within a short period of time developed problems, and they'd attributed it to using the synthetic.

Given the number of people who've voted in the poll here, and the absense of folks posting on here that their blocker rings were eaten up xxxx miles later because of it, I think this rumor should probably be put to rest.

Here's the LS1Tech.com thread about synthetic and blocker rings:

Ending the speculation: Blocker rings, who's had them fail?

I guess you could say that'd be a dino or natural fill rather than a synthetic...

The "Rumor" came right from GM. I also believe the guy from T56 rebuilds said the same thing.

Which must also be why the "guy" at T-56 Rebuilds recommended putting Mobil 1 ATF in my newly rebuilt transmission...

I've used GM Synchromesh and Redline D4 auto fluid.

I liked the Redline better.
