I have my shift light set for like 5500 just to leave me some room for error. Do you shift higher then that? or is that a good shift point while running hard.

Actally stock cam cars build peak power at 5200 rpms. After that they begin to run out of breath. Just shift your car at 5800 rpms. The only reason people try to shift right at the rev limiter is to land in a higher rpm band...MOST of the races 200+/- rpms isnt going to win/lose a race...

Stock internals stock exhaust manifolds with 74,000 miles. My shift light is set on 5,800 with stock 6,200 rev limiter.
Might move it to 6,000 when I put on Headers and Dual Exhaust, although I bet the valve springs are worn out....
