Yeah, I think all the shifters are nosiy without the rubber grommet on the handle. I have a LSS on my stock Hurst shifter, and it's noisier. On the plus side, you can feel the fingers a lot better when you're moving the shifter handle, so I learned exactly where my shifter really wants to go to get in 2nd and 3rd without ramming into the fingers. It was a great learning experience, even after driving this car for 5 1/2 years. I put a Hurst billet pistol grip on the LSS. It fits your hand like a glove, but the throw is a little longer than I wanted; good thing I put a LSS on first...

I broke the factory hurst at 732 miles. They replaced it under warrenty then I put in a pro 5.0 and haven't looked back. Very durable to, I now have 75000 miles and no problems. I don't really notice it being noisey.I guess it's broke in good 'cause I yank on pretty hard sometimes.

Default Before doing a shifter change, pelase read:

Hey all.
I must say that once I changed out my stock tranny mount with a new one, this made the world of difference in shifting and shifter feel. After a month of having a new tranny mount installed I tried a poly mount. This was even better in regards to shifter feel, but did add some volume (some) to the interior cockpit noise level. (**** I have a slp lm, so I am going def anyways).

I would like to say that if you have not changed your tranny mount with a new one or a poly type, do this first, then do the shifter change out.
Just my 3 cents worth. I still have my stock shifter in my car, it works great and after the tranny mount change out I have no more 2 to 3 gear change issues...

I've got the Pro 5.0 with a cut shaft and really like it. Granted my car is a little on the liud side so I don't notice any noise coming from the shifter. I did have some problems with the Pro5.0 when I first got it, but it just took a little trial and error to figure out what I was doing wrong.

1) The rubber boot needs to fit differently. On the stock shifters it covers the entire base and only the stick pops through the boot. When I had my Pro50 setup like that the boot would start to get chewed up by the shifter and eventually ripped. So it messed up my boot and got rubber in the shifter messing up my shifts. So what I did was widen the shifter boot hole so that it would now snuggly fit around the circular base of the shifter. Problem solved.

2) Shift points would move. Use loctite. problem solved.

3) The stick would come lose making the shifter feel real soft. Use red loctitie. problem solved.

Now the thing works like a dream. Granted I like the precision feel of the Pro50. I guess some call it notchy, but I find it smooth and precise.

I have the Pro 5.0 and absolutley love it. The UMI shortstick that I have (shortened even further by me) compliments it very well.

Pro 5.0 with UMI short stick. I must be the only deaf person hear cause I hadnt noticed ANY ambient noise with the Pro. I like the notchy feeling, and my 2-3 shifts are way better, I can hit them faster, and more acurately then the the stock(Of course).
To each his own, go with what feels best.....Have fun

I think all shifters probably feel notchy without the rubber grommet on the handle (like stock). It actually helped me to feel where the shifter really wants to go, and that's made me better and faster at shifting...

Where can you get one of these? I've got to replace the clutch next weekend, and I'd like to swap this out at that time.

Plus, anyone know of a cheap place to get a Pro 5.0 shifter?
