I pulled out a Hurst and put in a Ripper and they are both long throw sucks! I'm going with the Pro 5.0 unless there is a way to tighten up this B&M. Also, the long throw seems to make the 1-2 grind more pronounced! 02 camaro.

For those of you who switched to a pro 5.0, if you complain about extra noise, vibration, or notchy feel, you didn't install it right or you didn't spend enough time isolating the shifter from the transmission. I bought a rubber sheet gasket material from Ace Hardware. It's 3/32 in. thick. I can assure you I have no added noise AT ALL. Don't use the cheap RTV sealant like recommended.

it says Do-It Yourself, Gasket Kit on the bag. It's orange and comes in different sizes.

I have the pro 5.0 and i also used a sheet of gasket and cut it to fit and put it between the shifter and the tranny. I have absloutly no added noise. Sound quite and just like stock. The stuff i used was a cork and ribber mix. It was thick tho maybe 3/16. I got it at Napa it comes in a roll.

i had the hurst shifter with LSS and thought it couldn't get any better...UNTIL i got the pro 5.0. i thoroughly enjoy this shifter much more.

but if your already running it and don't like it, then there is no hope for you imo

I originally used a cork sheet that was probably about 2/32 of an inch and the noise was terrible

Maybe ill try this with the rubber, someone also had said there was some sort of nylon fitting that sat on the ball of the shifter that sits in the transmission. Anyone else remember something like that?

Well, just ordered the NEW B&M Ripper. Thunder says it is far better than the old one and quicker than the Pro 5.0. We will see! Gonna put some Redline in that crappy T-56 too to help that 1-2 grind.

I drove a LS1 equipped with the Hurst shift and the throws compared to my stock shifter but almost twice as short. The only thing is with longer shifter I believe you are able to direct your shifts better but definitely not faster.

The Hurst that came in the ZL-1 sucked. Shorter shifts not faster? I'll go with the shorter more precise shift.

Well here's the sad but true story. Took out the old B&M this AM and installed the new one. Thunder said since the old one was 3 years old it might be an old design. Just a few minutes ago another guy at Thunder told me the B&M had never changed.

Guess what? They have NOT changed. They are IDENTICAL and they both suck. So I've got them in the 'for sale' section. Trade both B&M, like brand damn new of course, for one Pro 5.0 or $200 for both.

Maybe some people like the Hurst-like B&M. I FN don't!!!! GD it!!

Somebody help me out here. I GD refuse to own 4 shifters for one catfish. I fact if I can find the original GMMG installed Hurst, whoever gets the 2 B&Ms can have it too!!

I have a b&m and once I got used to it, I liked it. I was missing third until I leaned my seat up a little and I haven't missed it since. It also feels good going into gears.

I ordered the Factory Hurst with my Z28 and was very dissapointed. Since I had good luck with the Pro 5.0 in my 5.0 GT, I installed one with about 1 3/4" cut off the stick and reused the Hurst ****. Works wonderfully with only a little more noise than stock...

I have the Hurst Billet Plus with Speed Inc. angled short stick and I love it. Drove a camaro with a pro 5.0 and it did not work well for me at all, I guess it is what you feel comfortable with.

I went from the stock Hurst one to an SLP shifter with Lou's Short Stick and I like it a lot. Makes a little more noise than stock, but I haven't missed 3rd yet.
