Default How do I know I have a Hurst Shifter?

Sorry for the noob question. I have a 02 WS6 and read that not all WS6 comes with a hurst shifter. Is there a RPO code or something that tells me if I have a regular shifter or the HURST?

If your shifter **** is a round ball, it's not a Hurst. They have an H in the leather on top and are shaped a little different.

that is a bad way. You can check with the codes on the driver door.

i say buy a short shift handle first. its a good cheap mod. When ur about to install ur shifthandle check out ur shifter. Heres a pic of a stock hurst next to a standard shifter. The stock hurst has a thicker base while the standard look flismy. If its not a hurst then buy a pro 5.0 or in my case find soembody who is selling a stock hurst.

Come on I was trying to help him out without the need of a 'secret decoder ring" Besides who ever changes the shifter in these cars anyways! I guess I should have said 'if it's still stock' first.

Lots of people change the shifter. It is really mushy and spongey in my opinion. you will find more people run the billet plus and the pro 5.0 than do the stocker.

I put a Hurst from an SS in my Z. It's a lot different from the stock Z shifter. But there is a lot more vibration especially in 3rd and 4th gear. Don't know if it's normal but i'm thinking of going with a Pro 5.0 in the near future.

2000-2002 all T/A and Z28 came with hurst shifters.
ws6 or not you have a hurst unless somebody took it out or have a v6.
