I have read many of the posts and the light flywheel is no a good idea for the heavy duty racers. Are there that shave just a few pounds compared to the stocker. I am looking for more external mods till the motor goes. I have 4.10 gears will this help with the launching of having an alum. flywheel? Thanks...

an aluminum flywheel is good for a street car and a road racer....many drag racers do not use them because they want the built up energy of the heavier flywheel to help launch them hard, on sticky tires.
I have one (from Star), the car is a daily driver & I road race it, so I WANT the added ability to rev up quicker ... out of the turns, etc.

Speed Inc has Fidanza aluminum flywheels for $359.99. That is a great deal I think. I don't know what they weigh though.
Sure would be nice to pay about $50 for new friction inserts instead of surfacing the old flywheel,(How many times can you surface one before you have to buy a new one?),or replace the steel flywheel the next time a new clutch is needed.

oh yeah and do you think the 4.10's will offset the cons of having the light weight wheel for launching? Thanks

I had a Hays Aluminum Flywheel from Jegs. It weighed in at 15lbs wheras the stocker is around 24lbs. The Fidanza weighs 12lbs. Cool *** mod for a street racer, sucks at the track even with the 4.10s.

well thank you again for reminding me what the flywheel does. i think i am just now going to stick with a stocker since most people who like to launch say it does bog your motor. cause that weight is there for a reason, to get those pistons turning!!!

Pedal: I went through all the stuff w/ a lightweight flywheel that is mentioned in this thread. Unless yer doing mundo (MUNDO) hp, then the lightweight will slow down easier. I'm doing approx 400rwhp now w/ my SPEC 3 (stock flywheel) & 4.10's. Love it!
