True the VDS is a badass clutch, but its a bitch to install. just make sure you get the Shiming right use 5-7 start with 7. I've taken my tranny out 4 times now. and my ram is still not in. I used 7 shims like Mikey told me to from Rapid morosports(very nice guy by the way) so I drove it like 400 miles, and it was sliping. Then when I took it apart, a piece from the PP BROKE OFF (about a 6 inch piece of rod) and it missed up my starter along with my bell housing and brand new flywheel. So I had to put my stock stuff back in for the time being... Until I call mikey or Ram Clutch to see if I can get a replacement.. It should of never broke in the first place. I installed everything to the way the instrustions shows... So I can't really so anything about a RAM at this time..

Does the 402/6130 non-VDS kit deal not need shimming, or were you just lucky? I really don't want to deal with shims. I will be getting an updated slave cylinder and the McLeod Adj. MC with my clutch when the time comes.

If you purchase the VDS from us, it comes already pre-set up. All you need to do is install it. Yes, there are shims on the flywheel but they are there to maximize clamping force. Alot of folks have made the mistake of removing these shims and have had issues. If you leave them there the way the clutch was shipped, there isn't an issue. We have installed probably 50 of the VDS systems and have not had a single problem. The clutch will engage right off the floor for the first 500 miles or so then move up a little. It will also chatter a little since it is a metallic disc.
An adjustable master is required with this one. We have guys running the 910's with 400+ rwhp and NOS with no issues.

The holding power is great...and yes it does chatter a little. I don't ever plan on running nitrous so that is why I went with the 6130 instead of the 910. When I do need a new clutch I'll probably upgrade to the 910 but I don't think that'll happen anytime soon.
Thanks again Mike!!!

There is no chatter in my 402/6130 VDS. It holds like nothing I have ever scene before, but yet is as streetable as the OEM unit was. Make sure you have a reputable installer install it, or you may have some problems.

Mikey,
I've heard that there's a new 980 series disk that has iron sinter on the FW side and is organic on the pressure plate side to reduce clutch chatter. Would you recommend this disk over the 910/915 if daily driving is an issue?

The 980 is a good alternative to the 910 but will not hold as well on high rpm launches at the track. Call me and I'll get you a price on the 980. It uses your stock flywheel so make sure to have it re-surfaced and checked for cracks.
