Most tracks are different, so there is no perfect RPM to launch at. I would suggest start dumping at 3k, if you get no wheelspin, try 3.5k or 4. Shift at 6k.

 

The rpm you launch at also depends on how much air you have in the tires.If you have a 15,16 or 17 inch drag radial also matters.
For what its worth I launched my car with boltons between 3800-4600 depending on the track.I usually had about 15lbs of air hot in the tires.

 

5K on DRs with a real good power adder cam, ported heads and full exhaust.

 

But be careful, with stock suspension parts on a M6 car, you can waste your rear end. I suggest a moser 12 bolt with lower control arms, relocation brackets. Go more if you can.

 

I agree with the others on it depends on track conditions and rear gears.
Stock 3.42's I would suggest 3-4k first and work from there.You will also do better with a little spin off the line to get the motor in the torque range.

 

Thanks for the reply guys, i have the 27540/17 bfg dr's. I raced my car this past saturday and the bes launch was about 3500 rpm i ran 13.2 sec @ 106 mph 2.0 60 the tires was biting to hard @ 18 psi and i think i kindah burnt my clutch cause there was a stink brake smell after 3rd run when i launch the car $ about 42oo rpm. so i had to up the psi. well all i can say is i had fun but the burnt clutch smell kindah worried me.

I ran the same tire a couple of years ago. Stock clutch (than changed to the Z06 clutch); stock rear end with 3.73's. DR like a lot of heat in them. Would do a good long burn out. Launch at 5200+. Fairly consistent 1.80-1.83.

Oh yea. Your 18lbs sounds a like high. Track conditions will tell you the pressure. Lower the pressure down until you bog slightly, than air them back up by a pound.

Smoke ford I think you are smoking something other than fords I wanna see a car with power adder get traction off a bfg at a 5k dump I couldnt get traction stock at a 3300 dump at hot 15psi on a bfg

 

Your track is slick or your burnout isnt long enough.With 4.10's,good burnout and 342/355 to the wheels 5k is a good rpm to launch at.

 

yeah but hes talking with a blower or a heads/cam ls1thats almost 400 to the wheels with no blower and more with. And my launch was on a LT1 car which have more bottom end torque than a LS1 which would be the difference in rs
