Default RAM Adjustable MC or GM 01+ MC...For my A4 to M6 SWAP

I am finally gathering all the pieces for my swap. I have a GM 01+ MC and slave that came with the swap, but I feel more comfortable putting in brandnew units.

Which brings me to the question: Do I buy a Ram Adjustable Master Cylinder or go with a GM unit?

The clutch is a SPEC 3+. Has about 1K on it.

My car is stock with the exception of GMMG catback. I have owned the car for about 2 years and didn't want to MOD it, but changed my mind and will be modding it.

I did a lot of researching on A4 to M6 swaps and MC issues and so on. I have read a lot of mixed reviews about the McCloed MC, but I haven't heard too much about the RAM unit. I do understand that it is basically a stock unit that is adjustable.

Opinions please. I need to order either one by this week; last of the parts I need to get before the car undergoes surgery!

Thanks,

Jon

There is roughly a ~$50 difference between the two master cylinders. It seems to make sense to get an adjustable unit to save headache down the road.

Anyone using a RAM Adj. unit with a SPEC 3+ clutch? Any problems??

I really don't see why the RAM would hurt. It is just a stock MC with the rod modified to hold an adj rod end on the end that attaches to the pedal. I say go w/ the ram; why spend money twice?

In fact I started installing my RAM adj today. So far so good.

I bought the Ram, plus it was cheaper than a stock one at the time lol.

I haven't really read anything negative on this site regarding the RAM adjustable MC. I think I am going to go with one.

You are right, I rather not spend the money twice.

The only downside I've had with mine is that eye part that connects to the clutch pedal was too wide. I had to grind it down and then I was able to get the clip on.

You say too wide, do you mean you had to grind down each side (the width) or did you have to grind down the end of the rod (the length)?

I assume you mean the width. Just want to make sure, b/c I am installing mine as we speak.

Just the width, the rod is long enough. I was able to install the MC and just take the eye end off and keep grinding it down until it fit. It was a pain so try fitting the eye part on the pedal before installing the MC.
