Default We did some powder coating on my intake.

I think the intake, along with my valve covers, turned out great! The color is a smoked chrome. I did the prep work, and dheck did the powder coating. The Biz just stood around and looked cool doing it.

The valve covers.

Next is the TB, the coil pack brackets, and my nitrous hardlines.

Actually the pics don't do it justice. They will look even better under the hood in natural light.

Oh what the ****!

...he's right, I had no hand in this one. It was all Bennito and Heckster. They do look badass in person...Bennito and Heck...not the valve covers and the intake.

I do it regularly. see the intake gallery on my site.

Dheck pm'd me asking how to do it and I helped him.

That intake has ALOT of orange peel, personally I wouldn't put that on my car or send it to a customer but to each their own. Can be caused by too little or too much powder. If he feels he didn't use enough, just scuff it and re shoot it. I'm betting not enough powder, I've never gotten orange peel by using too much powder on plastic, its typically a problem with metal substrates.

Smoke chrome also MUST be clearcoated or it will not hold up. Hopefully you guys used a clear, hard to tell from the pics.

Have him PM me if he needs help again.

Huh.. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Please... no offence, and maybe it's my untrained eye, but after looking at your intakes, I don't see much difference.

I do appreciate the reply!

No customers...just buddies in a garage. I like the shameless plug too. It was a nice touch.

LOL.

He told me he wanted my help only to do his own for his vette or whatever. If you think I'm dumb enough to believe he did that intake totally for free I don't know what to tell you. I pay alot per month to advertise here, I don't appreciate people BS'ing me about their intentions, would you?
Also I would like to know how it was a shameless plug? I simply told the truth, the guy didn't know how to do it, and I tought him best i could via PM. If I hadn't tought him, I would NOT have commented..not too mention I was offering HELP yet again based on what I saw. Take your smartass comments somewhere else, if I hadn't agreed to help him based on his assurance it was for his car ONLY, you and your buddies wouldn't have been coating that thing at all, thanks.

Captain--not sure what to tell you there, my pics are not real close up but even from further away the difference should be somewhat obvious, especially when there is 2 inches of almost bare plastic in the EGR area of your intake in that one pic, and also the same issues around at least one of the fuel rail mounts, and a few other places you can clearly see in your pictures. There are missed spots ALL over that intake.I'd call that a bit different from my work.
Anyway, since I'm such a dick according to Biz I'll lay out some more tips:
3 things could cause all that peel and rough appearance
1-not enough powder on the basecoat
2-not enough powder on the clearcoat
3-you guys used low temp clear coat which is junk and tends to peel bad like that

Or maybe a combo of all of it.

Dheck is the last person who's ever going to get help from me. 4 people have pulled this crap so far on me here, and I know he has a shop which was why I asked what his intensions were.

Well, as I said I appreciate the reply, and Justin (The Biz) is right, we did it for free. We're all good friend's, best friends, and help eachother out when we can. We build eachother's engines, and mod our own cars.

Maybe my intake isn't the best job in your eyes, and maybe in many other's eyes, but I am happy with it, because we did it ourselves. I was just proud of the job we did.

10-4, I can appreciate that.

My reply would not have been salty if Biz had kept his mouth shut acussing me of a "shameless plug" when I spent my time to give Dheck very detailed instructions and answer his questions. That's bullshit..

Like I said i never would have posted in your thread at all if Dheck wasn't mentioned.

I understand. I was just giving him the credit, because if he reads this he'll try to punch me in the nads if I make it sound as if I did all the work! lol I'm very serious too. He would ball tap me.
