Default Best $150 I've Spent in a while

Picked up a set of used MT ET Street Drag radials...tall *** 275/60/15s
Also got a set of Lakewood 50/50 rear drag shocks. Tires were $100 used and still have a decent amount of life left, the shocks were 50 bucks and only have 300 miles on them. So I save a few bucks on the tires and saved $42 on the shocks. I'm quite happy. I can't wait to put the stuff in. I'm going to have to cut my rear wheel well to squeeze the 28s in there, but it will be sweet seeing them stuffed in. They are a little too much for my application right now, but in the spring I'll be switching to a 9 inch with either 3.73s or 3.89s, so I should be able to spin them better. I'm basically doing full suspension and rear end to get the car ready for the motor that I will eventually build. The transmission is already taken care of, so all thats left is to make sure the rear can handle the duty.

I loved how my 28in 325 looked. Now I went back to a 26in since I am running a 3.73 out back.

yea my rears are only 15x8, so 275 is my max, i want to switch to 15x10s, but even then a 325 is just so damn big for the moment. I figure the 28s with a nice middle ground 3.89 would be perfect and then get my cam custom spec'd to match my rear and 3800 stall.

if you're staying on motor only i'd be thinking 4.10s or 4.30s on that 9". I'm not crossing the traps at my shift rpm on my cam only setup with 4.10s so I could really be using 4.30s probably.

4.30s in an auto seems steep?? I'd like to spray at least a 100 shot with the cam

well if you're spraying then it's not motor only, i'd imagine the 4.10s would work best then.

How safe/healthy would these tires be for a 2000 Z28 A4 Bolt-On car?? Im worried about blowing the rear.

Or should I stay away until I get a built rear/9inch/12 Bolt?

i'm on the 10 bolt, but I'm scrapping it in the spring for a 9 inch. Everybody's 10 bolt is different. chrs1313 1.36 60fted his car and the rear was fine. The auto is a lot less violent on the rear end than a stickshift. How many miles on ur car? I would get a stall before you do drag wheels. Much more worthwhile.

I agree, I got a stall before I got a drag radial. I did my first cam and stall fours years, they both are great upgrades but I will tell you to go big the first time. I went with a small cam the first time and swapped it out for a Ms3 and a 4000 stall. Check out straightlines cam special, its a really great deal.

my first rear blew up on the street with 94k on it.

My current 10 bolt only has 13k miles on it. I still don't trust it.

99Fbody, I originally had a 3500 stall and regretted it. I bought it new, but from a member, so it didn't have a warranty. when my trans blew up, I had it rebuilt to a level 5 and got a midwest 3800 with a warranty. I love it, and if I want to I have one free refresh. Before I cam the car, I might switch to a 4.2k or 4.4. I'm not sure how big I should go if I'm spraying.

I had those tires & the Comp Eng shocks (same as Lakewood) on my '99 Z28. I went 1.39 60ft with bolt-on's, 80 dry shot, and the 10 bolt. They work very well.

that a good deal for those meats...if i were you i would just go with a 3.73 gear or maybe a hair bigger...i am regretting going with the 4.10s just because i wanna spray it next year and i think i might be out of gear, also i gained absolutely nothing going from 3.23s to 4.10s, all of it is made up in the stall, i run identical times now as i did before the rear, so dont think you have to put huge gears in the gain is not there, leave that to the m6 guys where it helps them out alot more... also if you wanna spray i would not go any higher than a 4000 stall...

yea, I was thinking of going middle road with a 3.89 or 3.90 (depending on 9 inch or 12 bolt)...i wanna spray out of the hole eventually.
