Couldn't have looked much worse than the bike wreck on the Tri-State near rt176 yesterday afternoon. Traffic was messed up for a LONG way back, so I knew it was gonna be a pretty bad one. The guy must've died. Pieces of bike everywhere, a big pink outline where his body landed, and parts of his clothes for about 100 feet. It was nasty.

We have the photo unit in our house. The pictures were pretty bad. Not the worst I have seen, but to be burned to death inside a car. I guess a police officer on scene tried to get them out and couldn't.

I thought so too, but it was a RX-8. They were speeding in not so great of conditions.

So all 3 of them died? Speeding in an RX-8 then burnt to death. Bad way to go.

according to what i heard on wbbm radio earlier....

2 cars with college students were leaving 1 place and going to another for some fun. a witness said the driver of the rx-8 was reving his engine at the stop light and when it turned green, he took off, (didn't say the were racing). they said he made it about a block, lost control, and struck a steel beam and the car burst into flames. the car belonged to his dad also. 1 male driver & 2 females occupents died in the wreck.

lower wacker is a very bad place to speed, albeit fun, but a very sad outcome.

I know all about it. the people who died in the acident were all friends of my sister and in fact she was sharing a room with the 2 girls last weekend in Champaign for an Asian American conference. The driver was speeding no drugs were involved. No racing just messing aorund. The scary part was the cars chassis was compromised to where none of the doors would open from the acident. Their friends were in another car behind them and saw the entire acident and could not get the doors open after the car crashed and watched as they burned alive. Several of my sisters friends were over today including those that saw the entire acident. Reporters have been calling the house and stoped by here too because of my sisters involvment in the NIU Asian American Student association. Very sad day and not a way anyone should go.

That's really sad, so young. I can see where someone would want to screw around on Lower Wacker, it has a cool vibe for car guys but it's actually very narrow and has a lot of twists and turns. There have been a ton of accidents down there especially by the goofy on/offramps near the river.

A friend of mine was heading northbound during this and he said southbound was backed up from the wreck all the way past north of Great America. Definitely sucks.
