Doesn't look like it needs to be painted from what I can see in your pictures. I know all about black though. I have two.

yeah.... the sides of her are in good shape, but on top by the T Tops its starting to chip off and the hood is fading really bad... and my clear coat has bubbles in it by the hatchback... I think someone did a shitty job of painting it?? oh and it was it by a drunk driver, so I have some damage that needs to be taken care off..... it'd just be easier to repaint the whole thing...

Ok I see. I had the lower rockers and a rear fender painted on my vette last yer. The body shop found out that there was 7 differant shades of black for that car all with the same paint code. They had a hell of a time but finally got it perfect. They said they have never seen a black paint that had so many differant shades.

That's not a bad price at all. Maybe the firebird won't have as many differant codes. They did say that they done some work on another vette that was red and they had alot of differant shades with it to. Maybe it's just a vette thing. If they paint all of the car then I guess it really won't matter. Don't have to do any blending that way.

ouch...i'm an auto parts store employee...my dad owns the store. and whoever you talked to is a dumbshit. in my computer it shows 2 different numbers for that car, but you need 2 of each. 2 before the catalyst and 2 after. see? i'm not totally stupid! haha, i know you didn't mean all. just wanted to get a jab in there!

hahaha sorry! I guess maybe the ones in Dubuque are idiots... I think i'll just use real o2 sensors before the cat and maybe just get the dummies for after it... or maybe i wont replace the rear ones at all..

i've actually had pretty good luck around Des Moines for auto parts stores. The car quest on Merle Hay has a one guy with a mopar and he's pretty good. The orielly's on douglas has a few younger guys that are into four wheeling and they know a decent amount. The advanced auto parts on Merle Hay is sometime hit or miss, None of the people are car guys so they depend on the computer. The Napa in Johnston, those guys usually need the computer too, but they have a guy thats been doing it for years and is pretty good. The autozone on douglas I stay away from, one of the guys there has an escort with a fart can, and another I see has a honda that has some crap done to it. I've seen an older Saturn that had a Front mount intercooler on it there quite a bit, but I don't know if he works there or not.

haha, i'm just messin with ya guys. as you can see i got a 97 ss convertible. sad to say, no fart can for me, haha. i used to live in both ames and des moines and never see any of you f-body guys. my gf is from there so i go back occasionally so hopefully i'll see some of you this summer. i did see one ls1 style ss that was a pewter one day getting on i35 in ankeny. gave me a thumbs up and i did the same. and why is it that i never get hit up for races by ricers? i like eating rice

I just got directed towards this thread. I didnt realize there were that many F-Body owners in Iowa. I'm definitely in favor of a cruise. Alota cool ideas have been thrown around. And it looks like the weather is FINALLY shapping up a little at least. If anyone ever wants to meet up on a friday or saturday to get some food/cruise I'm game. Des Moines is about 60ish miles from where I'm at now. I've always heard the car scene isnt too bad up there, but I've never made the trip up to street race or anything. But I'd be more than happy to haha. Its just good to see this hasnt turned into another LT1 vs LS1 thread!

I'd be down for a cruise too... Des Moines is "supposed" to be a 3 hour drive from Dubuque... but I've managed to make it there in about 2 hours. I dont know what the hell the hurry was... I think I was going to a concert at the Val Air.

Anyway. Lets get something together!!

I think we all need to get together sometime. Lets select a date, lets say a Saturday night if possible(May time frame?), and pick a place such as Rookies off of 63rd.
Get a head count.
And then we can give the owner a heads up of how many will be attending.

Then maybe we could make this a monthly event possible and even get more peeps from the Porky's crowd to come. Just a thought anyways, as I know this idea has floated around for the last 6-8 months. Lets make it happen captain!

i'd consider coming for that. **** i get drunk at rookies sometimes anyway so why not take my car there, haha. my town has a car cruise in august that i always go on. its mostly your older cars that go and what not but there are a few newer cars and what not. i wanna say last year we had like 600 cars drive around the lake. good times man, good times

Jason and others, if we did it on a saturday afternoon sometime, I could attend forsure. Its about 1 1/2 hour drive for me if im at a decent clip. I work monda through friday from 5-4:30 and saturday from 5-11 or 12. Anyhow, i will try and make as many get togethers as I can with you all this year.

Through out the week its hard for me and it appears hard for others to meet up. My vote is for a Saturday and Buffalo Wild Wings is a damn good place as well, only problem is its ALWAYS packed on a Friday/Saturday evening.
