Beautiful. At least I broke it good. I'd have a more dented ego if I didn't tear it up for real.

sorry, for the thread hijack. I have been having a nasty grinding sound coming from the bellhousing of my 06 equinox. i was able to figure out what it was just a few minutes ago. I found a bolt flopping around inside of there. It looks like a 10 mm head, about an inch 1/2 long and 8x1.0 thread. Does anybody have any idea what this could have come out of? Anybody have a breakdown of whats bolt sizes are on the flexplate to crank? all the torque converters are there and torqued. maybe on the front of the trans?

Nasty, if you need to check out the pistons on the vette. I have a digital borescope. it has an rca cable adapter to record onto, or you can hook it up directly to a tv and see how it looks inside. Sunday afternoon i checked out a friends pistons and cylinderwalls with it. Its not mine, but i could stop by with it and check out how bad the pistons are in the vette. Give me a call, if you want to take a look. 615-4337

Geez I should be a watch model

I saw the carnage first hand...kinda brought back memories of my motor prior to the first rebuild. Sorry to see it happen...Joe and Nate will get it fixed up and on the road again.

On a side note, I should be getting my new starter tomorrow and then be able to fire my baby for the first time in a long while....cross your fingers!!

Sounds like a flexplate bolt to me or possibly a rear cover bolt...

Sean, theres little doubt in my mind that after the new heads and cam install you should be able to beat me. If you get a new bottom end, and can crank up the boost, then it will be more of a slaughter. After beating the Vette, and beating your Trans Am, I knew I had it coming sooner or later. Good luck man, and keep in touch.

This latest issue is going to slow down my LT1 build, but I'm still working towards getting it ready for the shootout next year.

Wow Sean, you killed it good. At least you've got some good guys here to get it taken care of for you.

Luke,

Converter and flexplate bolts should have a 15mm (or 17 mm) head on them, if that's a 10 mm head it shouldn't be that. The flexplate bolts (at least on my '98, 01, and '03 engines) have a concave face and are very shallow on the head. My stock converter bolts were similar, though I can't remember if they were 15 or 17 mm, I know they weren't 10 mm (again, this was on my car).

I concur with a rear cover bolt, those are 10 mm head, around 1" total length (including the head) and I believe an M8x1.0 thread.

The kit was one of the first sold, so I got it for $6995 delivered from Australia. Added in another $6K in peripherals (Clutch, injectors, ECS Meth Kit, installation, tuning, valve springs, ect).
