You've been talking to guys that care too much about track times Troy. Auto may be faster, but it ain't no fun to drive. Ask Blake.

Ha. I'm just tired of buying clutches and flywheels. I'm thinking the TH400 with RMVB and brake will be fun too!

Unless all you want is track times, it doesn't matter what you go with. It still won't be as fun as rowing through the gears.

In all the years I've had my car, I think I've only had three clutches.

Is that an LT1 or LS1 T56?

Edit: Nevermind, I'm assuming LT1, yes?

Yes LT1. It has held strong for the 20 years of abuse I've put it through. I'm sure it could use being cracked open and refreshed.

I would say 90% of Troys driving is done at the track & leaving on the brake is sick.

You two should line them up at the track " whenever Troy decides to put his car back together " then see who is actually having fun lol

Track car > street car at the track

Street car > track car on the street

The way my car performed at the track I got no doubt a strong automatic car would beat me. I guess I didn't know Troy was more about doing a track car. If that's the case he definitely should be going with the auto.

@blake @Nick would this be a good candidate for doing the 5.3 setup in my fc?

The LS T-56 and the LT1 T-56 are different and not enterhangeable. The bel housing design is different. So if you're doing a LS based 5.3 build, it would not work.

Looks like it can be done, but it looks like a pain in the ****.

There's a company in Florida that makes a custom bel housing to make it work also. Less hassle, but a lot of $. Most people just don't want to go through the hassle.

Good link though!

FWIW, I can do the conversion from LT1 to LS1, but it's somewhat pricey parts wise. Something like 700-800 bucks in pieces to do it. 4th gear/input shaft, front plate and bellhousing.

why the hell would you bother instead of just getting an ls1 t56? Gearing differences? Preferences?

Well, if you found one cheap enough it makes sense.

seems like you would have to find one for 50-100 bucks to make it worth it after all the cost and time into converting it...

I dont know if I shared this on here yet. I raced a 9.6 second alpha 10 gtr. Those things are insanely fast. I got stomped
