I've heard the earlier LT1 versions are stronger, but that could be BS. I've never really checked into it.

Looks like the earlier T56 BorgWarner is a stronger tranny. Here's a link from RPM transmissions... http://www.rpmmotorsportstulsa.com/6speed.htm

Yeah, the LT1 T-56's were built like tanks. Most hold up to 750+ RWHP, where the LS1 T-56's had issues with just factory power.

LT1 T-56 were built by Borg Warner when they were built in Germany. LS1 T-56's were made in Mexico.

FWIW, that's a car lot, not RPM Transmissions. They also state that you're better off with a 4L60e than a T56, and state the GTO has the same transmission that the Camaro/Trans Am did (which is completely wrong, it's different gearing, different gear strength and different synchros (triple cone)), so...

I'm curious what exactly makes the LS1 T56 weaker; I don't believe they use different synchros than the Viper T56, and the LT1 uses the same diameter mainshafts. Early LS1 T56s have an aluminum shift fork, later have the "Viper" steel one. Are the LT1 T56s triple cone synchros in 1-4? I didn't think they were.

There are various different strength gear sets, main shafts, single/double/triple cone and carbon synchros, etc. I've not been inside an LT1 T56, but I don't think they're that dramatically different than an early LS1 unit, and I'd be shocked if they were superior to the MN12 (GTO) or TR6060.

Most of the tranny issues I've seen have been caused by broken slider keys. Then your shifting goes to hell and you eat up synchros. The single cone synchros are slower (and notchier) too, which beats things up when you shift hard.

I am not by ANY means a T56 expert though, I defer to RPM (http://www.rpmtransmissions.com/) on that topic.

Its been crickets here. Does everyone talk on FB now?

We have 2 big events coming up real soon; RPM's track day on fri and the shootout in INDY next week. Who is going? There's no reason not to attend. RPM's deal is free and the shootout is in our backyard for the 3rd time.

I went to adams house to drop off an oil pan for TJ and was happy to see some cars there getting ready for the festivities.

Man, someone needs to tell that owner of the blue G8 to get her *** out of the picture next time!

On the other hand, I think that car's ready to race! I think I may even keep the carseat in it..

nice! I was there Friday with my GTO. I went to the staging lanes to get my first run in and my temp gauge just shot up. What ended up happening was the water pump went doo doo which ended up being a $325 towing bill to bring it back to fort wayne. not a good night.

but other than that it was sort of fun. out of all the times I've been there, that had to be the most cars I've seen racing there that night

Chris, Travis, Amanda, Adam Wong and myself will all be pitting together and racing. Are u racing the rx7, it would be awesome if you did. Just a reminder to others in town the car show still has open spots, so fill up the nitrous bottles, polish up the blowers, head on down and hang with us for the weekend.

Wish we would have known about that! We could have hauled you home a lot cheaper! We took our trailer down just in case somebody needed it.
