Default USAA: worth it?

im hearing alot of good things from some of the guys i work with over here about USAA - car insurance rates, banking/savings accounts, etc. have any of u guys used this company? are they generally pretty good with customer service and giving a good APR on vehicle purchases? wuld it be worth it to switch from bank of america to this company?

i dont really have any beef with b.o.a. - everyone dogs them but ive had no problems with them. but if USAA is better, then ill gladly switch over.

USAA's banking and stuff is great, but I can't use em for car insurance. They're minimum 30-40 a month more than I've got now. Granted their overall coverage and service FOR the coverage if you have to use it might be a bit better, I just can't justify spending that much extra money. I know a load of people that save money going with them though.

Yep, been with them since 1992. I love them. I have a 2005 Dodge Durango, 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel, 1999 Trans Am, 2006 Harley Night Train all w/ full coverage, uninsured/underinsured coverage, towing, labor, and rental insurance for the house, and only pay $169 a month. I've had to file 2 claims with them, both without any problems, or rate hike. One was my Honda CBR getting stolen, the other was a car accident where someone hit my wife and my '03 Cobra. They paid my wife's medical bills and had my car fixed within a week, and waived my deductible. AWESOME COMPANY!!! I will stay with them for Life as well.

I wish I would have went with USAA sooner. It was a lot cheaper than Nationwide for car insurance.

Let's see with USAA I have........

Insurance- Home, Life, Auto
Banking - Savings, Credit, Auto

The only downfall is they do not have local branches for normal checking and local account stuff but they do have ATM fee re-imbursement. They are by far the best out there for military. Period. Customer service is the best of any I have had by a long shot.

I've been with USAA for fourty years for both my home and car insurance. I also finance my cars through them because of their great rates and the free gap insurance. Their service is first rate.

USAA rox.

They accidentally deposited a loan I took out from them into a wrong cking acct. Subsequently, I wrote like 10 bad checks. Within a day of me informing them about this, they sent an apology letter to the recipients of everysingle check I wrote. Then they reimbursed me for all the returned check fee's. It was like $300 in rtn check fees.

Thier website is great too. If you use your debit/credit card for purchases, they post them on thier website within seconds. It took navy federal 2 days to post **** on thier website. USAA also lists exactly who the money went to on the site, so I can tell if I'm getting ripped off. Navy fed would just post random amounts, and I had no idea who they were going too.

you can find cheaper insurance if you really want to, but when it comes time for them to pay out, I have never even heard of anyone having a problem.

bottom line, I'm staying with USAA and I'd recomend them

I do have a question about their car insurance for are modded cars. Do they give ya alot of flack about insuring your modded cars or are they reasonable about that stuff? Right now as far as they know my car is bone stock and I want to have all my aftermarket parts added to my policy when I get home from Iraq.

I've wondered that too. WHen I get promoted next month I'm gonna get a bunch extra insurance for my camaro. I'll letcha know how it goes. I only have the bare minimum on it right now. I am gonna get full coverage plus an extra $5000 or so for the turbo kit & all the other goodies.

i love usaa. i have them for my 3 cars and my bike. we'll they don't actually cover bikes. but you get a discount from one of their sub contractors. i prefer NavyFed for banking though. their intrests rates on car loans are always a few points lower. but otherwise, USAA kicks ***. make sure you get the towing package though. for an extra 12 bucks every 3-4 months, you can't beat it.

I have USAA for auto and home insurance and they're great. I'm kinda surprised to hear some people aren't getting the lowest rate w/USAA. I've checked other companies and no one can touch them. I guess different circumstances?
