Im a GM guy through and through, but its nice to see the competition. Especially when is so tough! Ford really has a chip on their shoulder after all these years! Keep it up!

While peak hp numbers are cool, this combo sacrificed mid-range power to gain more up top. All SOTP difference will be felt between 6800-7500 rpm. It would be nice to see a plot starting @ ~2000rpm.

Nonetheless, it makes good power and I'm sure it sounds sweet revving to 7500rpm.

Yeah I completely agree... that's the one big thing that seems to be lost with the ohc... nothing beats the feel of a push rod engine. The only time the ohc see a graph like that is with a PD blower like a kenne bell etc.

It can't beat the torque of a bigger cubed motor.

The LS3 can do over 500rwhp with h/c/i...i'm not impressed.

http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...wap/index.html

The graph just looks terrible to me, look how high they spin that motor to get those numbers and why does the blue line fall off so bad in upper RPMS...

LOL Those are some serious inflated stock and bolt-on numbers in that link.

The 5.0 pulls hard under race conditions (high rpms), but isn't too hot low end. That what the lack of cubes will do. Just remember, this is the first H/C/I 5.0...should go up from here.

I find it funny people aren't impressed with this, but then can be impressed by a H/C/I LS3 making 500+, which isn't even the norm. It will be interesting to see non-shop cars trying to replicate these numbers.

This is where VVT tuning is nice. Having control over the valve events throughout the rev range means having your cake and eating it too!

That's the thing, the LS3 with H/C/I is the norm.

These are prolly just inflated numbers by a 5.0.

Hang on so you are trying to tell me that a smaller 5.0 liter that made 507hp is not impressive and then showing me a link of a 6.1 liter engine that only made 518hp which is only a difference of 11 hp? Do you see where I'm going here.

You dont have to like ford at all but damn some people have a hard time admitting when another car rival makes an engine that is impressive. Keep in mind like WSsick said this is the very FIRST one

I'll hate.

So far, that's only one that has put up those kind of numbers. When there are multiple cars out there with the same results, I might listen. When those same cars back up those dyno numbers with real world results (read: a trap speed, car weight, and density altitude), I might even pay attention.

Same **** happens on here - people post awesome numbers, but rarely back them up with numbers off the dyno.

No doubt Ford did something right with these motors. It has done nothing to restore my faith in the internet, though.

The thread on SVTP about this is hilarious, everyone is praising it as the second coming of the Lord. 1 Engine has put up big numbers and its say goodbye to all things LSx.

Great numbers, but its still heavier, larger, and way more expensive to build.

Id be more interested to see at what point these motors will pop. The internals seem to be holding up very well so far.

Im not a Ford Guy myself but 2 say that is not impressive means your in denial or have no business around performance vehicles and you have never been in a street car that makes 500rwhp...

If I was gonna buy a new muscle car 5.0 it would be..... I hate the way the new camaro looks its way too heavy an Challengers an Chargers look badass but are really big ole turds performance wise....Ford finally stepped up after gettin its *** beaten the last 2 decades...

If it's the norm, you shouldn't have a problem finding 10-15 threads with 500+ and posting them here Preferably within like the last 6 months, since it is the norm, it should happen all the time.

Only time will tell whether they are inflated numbers or not.
