Stupid Hit & Run
Not even 2 days after I get my turbo up and running, I get hit while stopped at an intersection in Tulare, CA by a drunk driver, who decides to hit and run. I chase after him to get the license #, and he runs through numerous intersections on a red light almost causing other wrecks. Thank God for the turbo, or he would've been gone. He was driving a Nissan Sentra and wouldn't stop for anything. I pulled up beside him and try to get him to pull over, he still tries to out-accelerate me. Fiancee calls 911 and gets disconnected, calls back, and reads the license plate # and our location to dispatch police. 911 stays on the line and my fiancee updates them on our location. We were doing 60+ down alleys and back onto cross streets, each time he would signal, but not slow down almost causing a wreck. I decided we were going to end up getting someone hurt/killed and that it was now up to the police to get this dirt, besides, the impact hit the side of the charge pipe going to the FMIC and jarred it, knocking it loose from between the TB and MAF, so any time I would boost it up, it would blow by and the PCM would richen but never get it's much-needed air that the sensor was receiving. I ended up driving back to the PD with the car hardly running and the front end missing pieces, distraught. I thank God that no one was hurt, in the long run, I'm glad we were hit, and not someone else, he may have murdered someone else if he wouldnt've hit us first. Plastic can be replaced, life cannot... Merry Christmas friends... just always keep in mind what is important...

Yes, thank God... They still haven't found the guy, but my insurance should cover it. Maybe I'll get a new paint job out of it. =\ Car ran dang good when it did though! =)

Well, I clamped the charge pipe back on and drove it about 10 miles to the body shop of my choice in Visalia, and met with the 21st Century insurance appraiser. He looked at my car from the outside, and asked to pop the hood. He kept staring and taking pictures of the core support where I had cut it back for the charge pipe and told me that it had a drastic effect on the integrity of the front end of the vehicle and was not sure if that would be covered. He wanted the body shop to pull the bumper and fender off to see what the internal/structural damage looked like on the vehicle before talking numbers. I still have to pay a $500 deductible whatever way you look at it, because they never found the guy that hit me. I wasn't all that thrilled about the guy's attitude, and wondering if my car would even be covered under collision after what he said. Guess we all pay for modifying our vehicles these days eh?

You should of backed right off after you got the license plate. You were risking your lvies and the lives of others trying to stay with the drunk driver. Hopefully there is no next time, but if there is...Grab the license plate and vehicle make and head to the police station. Leave the chasing to the police where they have warning lights and sirens to let oncoming traffic know whats up.

Im very confused. Unless the car was stolen how tough can it be to track a guy when u got his plates? Unless he decides that he aint gonan go home for a long time. People suck. GL

YES, got a positive ID on the suspect, the CHP caught the guy, and he admitted to it and is being charged with hit and run. Along with that good news, he is insured, and is going to cover all damage done to my vehicle! Man, this is the way I was hoping we'd start off the new year! =)
