Not completely sure if the record still stand but it did in 2003. Bill Weckman is a good friend of mine from Granite City, Illinois and he always had the fastest car around. I was just doing a search for him and found a nice in car run down the 1/4 mile where he ran 8.12 at 168mph

That don't count...he's canadian
Not sure how the 2 compare. Bill's is a factory frame car, Don's isn't. There are lot's of other things that make Don's a "Race" car vs more of a factory car. The part I like is that Bill's car is "recognized by General Motors and the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky as the Worlds Quickest & Fastest Corvette. Not taking anything away from Don cause his car kicks *** too.

LPE only went 8.95 I believe.
That vette is "cool", but a 5mpg roots blown, nitroused 509 with rear tires twice as tall as the front is not what I would call a street car. They had it right when they said street legal. The cool part is the fact that he's been racing it for 30 years.
