Lucas oil stabilizer with Mobil 1
I am going to change the oil in my 00 camaro ss for the first time this weekend, I have put around 2500 miles on it since I have owned it. I bought mobil 1 5w30 oil and a k&n oil filter and was thinking would it be good to use lucas oil stabilizer in the LS1? I have used it in both of my iroc's before and it seems to work good. If I do use it do I add 5 quarts of oil and one of lucas or should I just use half a quart of lucas?

as far as i know you just displace some of the oil with lucas, meaning if you are supposed to have 5 quarts oil per manufacturers intruction, and also supposed to add a quart of lucas per lucas instruction, (you would add one less quart of oil)you would add 4 quarts of oil and 1 quart of lucas. it makes the most sense that all said and done the dipstick should read full and nothing over. and i believe lucas is supposed to be 20% so im gonna go with displace the engine oil with as much lucas as you are supposed to add.

also would like to add, i respectively disagree with sparky, addatives are proven to prevent metal on metal friction in your motor, which add lif to it, and because of the reduction of friction dyno tests prove you will also add some power. It is also very good stuff to use because dry starts are horrible for your car, but with an additive like lucas, it prevents dry starts, furthering the life of the motor. personaly i dont see a reason not too, top fuel cars use it, it cant hurt right.

It caused foaming of the oil at higher RPMs which is bad. Air entrapment in the oil can cause more friction and heat.
Again, this is why I said forget the lucas.

I used to put that stuff in my car, I did see an increase in oil pressure, and the car had less valvetrain noise, but I just stopped using it after a while. I did not see any problems for the 5 or 6 oil changes I did using the lucas oil stuff.
I dont think its going to cause your engine to suddenly explode but im probably just going to stick with plain conventional oil.
