Default I have a ?....

I recently totaled my camaro z28. Some dumb *** pulled out in front of me. Well, the motor was fine, just some front end damage and both airbags deployed. Well anyways, i was thinking of buying a V6 camaro and doing a swap. My question is, is the tranny the same in the V6 vs. the V8?!?

man, i honestly have to advise against this one, there are many different things on the car different from v6 to v8......transmission, suspension etc. for all the bs, just get a v8

If you are gonna go through the trouble of tearing the motor out, which is a good i dea, cause then you can really buld that mother, drop it in something other than just a 6 banger. older camaro, like a 3rd gen maybe. if you must though, thier was a guy on here awhile ago who took a 6r and totally turned it into an SS, interior and all. use the search and go to the conversions section, that should help.

What about suspension and rear end for the v6 car? I personally think you should get a car that had a v8.

Sounds like a HELL of a lot of work to me. Granted, you will learn a ton, but in terms of money I doubt you end up saving any. In fact, I have seen many projects like this get half way in and be CONSIDERABLY more expensive than just purchasing a stock vehicle. If you aren't VERY good with a wrench I would definately advise against it.

^^

Sounds like too much time and money and effort to be worth it to me. Maybe sell off your good V8 related parts and find you a good deal another V8 Fbod.

Yeah, a friend of mine was going to do that to a 240. You have to custom fab a k-memberm wiring harness, headers, etc. Basically a new car...lol

I do have most of the tools. I just might try and sell everything and see what happens.
